  1. It does seem odd that a show that loves exposition hasn't had Patrick/Robin talk about the horrors of her experience. #GH

  2. @soapsindepthabc She had her own room, three meals a day & Nurses Ball DVDs to watch. What was so horrible?

Yep! I only caught was was RTd, and apparently, the SID person is a bigger Robin stan than a Craptini stan and didn't appreciated the Sobby propping. Ron reminded that person that Robin didn't go thru all that much while she was being held captive. Someone else mentioned that Ron said something to the affect: Robin was fed and treated good while held captive.

Yeah, this!

I forgot to mention, I rolled my eyes so damn hard at Lucy justifying Franco's actions and saying - literally - "The tumor made him do it!" I literally can't. But I'm glad they at least juxtaposed it with Franco choosing to enact violence.

I've had no time for Ron for a least a year but that's just icing on the cake. The man is either certifiably insane, completely stupid bordering on mentally retarded, or some combination of both.

I assume he was joking about Robin's time away, but the sad thing is I can't even say 100%.

I laugh when people praise Patrick's indecision for its realism. Come on. This isn't about realism. It's about Ron wanting the story to focus on his favorite and frame it as her being hard done by.

This is essentially a much worse written version of Kathleen/Cass/Frankie on AW, although at least Frankie (who annoyed me quite a bit at times) was played by a superb actress.

Pity that some took him serious, but this is what happens when you make light of someone's feelings. Many are extremely unhappy with the writing for Scrubs, and they certainly have valid complaints, but moRon makes fun? That's just stupid. He simply does not know how to back off.

  1. @carlivatiron @soapsindepthabc it wasn't a great joke. Are they going to talk about the two years apart?

  2. @carlivatiron @soapsindepthabc with all due respect, it's hard to smile about this story. How could he not even ask how she was doing? Sad.

  3. @carlivatiron @soapsindepthabc YES unfortunately!! I am really not sure how they could NOT know!

I think it makes sense for Lucy to fall into old patterns. She's been without Kevin for a while, in addition to their divorce or separation prior to her return. She's always had those weaknesses, and she and Scott have a long history.

I didn't care for most of their interplay on PC, because it was often so full of sturm und drang and self-importance, built entirely on dismantling Kevin and Lucy. But here, in their limited story capacity, Scott and Lucy have been a lot of fun together, and we know she and Kevin will find their way back to each other. It is, as others have said, insane to be able to talk about these three again in 2013. So I don't mind this storyline, slight though it perhaps is. I think it works for all three. I never, ever thought I'd see them around like this again.

    • There's also the soap opera conundrum: once characters get everything they want, they tend to stagnate. Nola got everything she wanted. One of the things that was really interesting about her was that tremendous need for things out of her grasp. Once that was resolved, there wasn't much left for her to play. Maybe Long could have found something to replace that, but since she wasn't created by Long, she probably preferred to focus on the needy character she created: Reva. They were still significant stockholders. They could have punched back. Vanessa forced to team with the brother she resents. I can see it working.
    • She could have easily tied them into the Cottage Mystery...(they could have easily explained going on adventures with Bea, babysitting) The house that Tony and Annabelle lived in could have been the coachhouse of the property that Qualo and Henry live in, or at the very least Nola would have been totally in on ghosts and secrets of her brother's house. But they kind of just sat around for months.  The clip of Van and Billy's impromptu wedding shows how sidelined Nola and Quint became...Nola isn't even around butting in on them getting married, its all Reva (though it is a more interesting Reva where Mindy and her or going at it and insulting each other..THAT Reva was fun.)  I loved it when those two would go at it. Somehow they could have resurrected that antogonistic relationship and not have Billy worshing at the throne of Reva.  When they brought JC back on recurring they should have had him at least warn Annie about Jeva pulling her down..."Darlin' I love my brother, but when he has ole Reva in his sites he will drop any woman to try to win her back...and then he will get bored with her...she's like booze is to me and you...he hates it but he needs it..get out while you can!"
    • It's been brought up that Empty Nest was a time slot hit. Here's Empty Nest schedule and seasonal rating in comparison to The Golden Girls. 1988/89: The Golden Girls Saturday 9 pm, 6th. Empty Nest Saturday 9:30 pm, 9th. 1989/90: The Golden Girls Saturday 9 pm, 6th. Empty Nest Saturday 9:30 pm, 9th. 1990/91: The Golden Girls Saturday 9 pm, 10th. Empty Nest Saturday 9:30 pm, 7th. 1991/92: The Golden Girls Saturday 8 pm, 30th (final season). Empty Nest Saturday 9 pm, 22nd.  1992/93: Saturday 9 pm, below the Top 30. 1993/94: Saturday 9 pm, below the Top 30. 1994/95: Saturday 8:30 pm then 8 pm, below the Top 30, and cancelled. Empty Nest 7 season run equaled the parent show The Golden Girls.
    • In an interesting turn of irony, when Somerset came onto the airwaves in 1970... it ran against Dark Shadows and beat it in the ratings fairly quickly.  Then when Edge of Night moves to ABC in December 1975 and put against Somerset, the slow ratings rise that Somerset was allegedly having in late 1975 is derailed. From reading the write ups of the final year, the show dropped the May/December romance.. which viewers enjoyed and was getting the show some good press... the original cast member was sidelined due to medical issues, and the show featured pure crime stories without any balance. I think the crime focus was an attempt to compete with EON.  However, people that were into crime stories/mysteries weren't going to tune into Somerset for their fix.. not when Edge of Night was known for that.. and that show was running on a high quality wise when the network switch occurred.

    • Erwin Nicholson's last episode as SFT ep was 11/21. Whitesell started 11/22/85. Erwin was on board from March 8, 1985 so less than 9 months. Whitesell lasts six months (approximately) before P&G moved him to AW for two years where he primarily worked with DePriest. Whitesell was replaced on Search by no daytime experience David Lawrence who closed out the show's last six months.

    • I assume in name only?  One Stormy Night wasn't exactly steamy.  If it's a literal throwback then Stephanie's writing about sexy times her own Uncle was having lol. Since I am going to surmise it's just a throwback to the name, Night Sins and Winter Heat both sound sexier.  Just saying.  I swear Jamey (and Ron) just google things and land on the first thing they like and decide it's a good throwback to history without watching it.
