It was a good episode but at times it seemed to just lag. That scene at nighttime....maybe it was just my television but was it hard for you guys to see the characters? It seemed like it was cutting to black or something.

As for Patrick and the little ese I dunno I did buy their connection. The intimate scenes were pretty good.

Richie had taken Patrick to an exhibit at the Planetarium. It was supposed to be that dark, so that they could see the stars. For me, it would have been odd, if you had some special lighting, to showcase the two characters at that moment in time of their date.

Like when on other sitcoms and soaps, you have some club scene and it's lit in just a certain way, so that you can see the main characters dialogue.

The AVClub critic claims that the screener copies sent out are in general too dark (he did a comparison of one shot) but I assume you're not watching those :P I found the lighting fine on my set... http://www.avclub.com/tvclub/looking-for-the-future-107072

I was watching the extra piece HBO does for each episode, that gives insights from the producers of Looking. One of the producers (the one with the funky beard), said that everyone who was behind the scenes of "Looking for a Future" episode, felt like they were also on the date with the two characters.

Folks would whisper and not have too loud conversations on set, even when they weren't filming.

For those of you who also watch Girls, do you remember that pretty graphic sexual sequence Adam had with that girl he was dating last season? I was reminded of that. Sometimes these actors' faces are like right up in there. I'm sure they're as respectful as possible on set, but framing those shots is like framing porn.

This was the best episode for me thus far even though Richie rubs me the wrong way (he gives off the vibe of "you should feel priveleged that I have chosen to spend some time with you" but I'm probably the only one there...) and I think the actors only had ok chemistry. It was a great episode to get some insight into who Patrick is as a person - it definitely made me more sympathetic to his character. I loved that I could recognise most of the places they went to even though I have only visited SF once.

I pretty much agree with everything the AV Club said in their review. Great stuff (not surprising that Haigh wrote and directed since it did play a lot like Weekend, except we already know these characters somewhat well by now which in some ways made it work better for me.) And a rimming scene on tv! tongue.png I actually found it interesting how they brought up the whole "bottom shame" thing--I don't remember the QAF remake doing that tongue.png

Oh I am sure you enjoyed the dialogue...hehe....the f bomb and c bomb and more...i bet you tell that to all the guys...or do they tell you...hehewink.png

I get that it was dark and that was the whole point of the scene. I was just wondering if my tv had perhaps gotten something wrong somehow or was suffering from some defect which is why I posed the original question.

You can't be everything to everybody. A glimpse is just a glimpse. Girls met similar criticism. It's not the show's fault for being what it is, rather, the industry could step up and green light more shows that would provide more of a spectrum.

I don't mind a slow paced show if I like the characters. Unfortunately I can't stand the main character (though this latest episode was Patrick at his best, even if it felt like a student film).

After finally liking Patrick last week, he went back to being an ass this week. Like seriously, you're in love with your boss and basically just biding your time until you !@#$%^&*] over your "boyfriend". While I've never enjoyed Agostin, I found myself disliking him as much as I dislike Patrick. Who is he to judge anyone when he's paying a prostitute to be around he and his boyfriend?

Seriously the only likeable one out of the trio is Dom. And my heart kind of sank when Len rejected the kiss.

I was all set to hate Aog or however you spell it but I found myself very pissed off at how blatantly obviously it was that Patrick wasn't into Richie. Especially after he pursued just two weeks ago....talk about trifling.

And Aog and the whole threesome scene was a little disturbing. And I'll admit I was a little surprised by the positions.....lol. That being said I just don't see that ending well for either of them.

The things that a boyfriend does for his mate...lol. Frank deserves better.

I thought it was a great episode though Augustin ticked me all kinds of off. He was happy. Why mess with it? Cheered when Richie got all up in his face. You can talk behind someone's back, but you don't have the balls to say it to his face. Reminds me of the many situations I have dealt with in the interracial dating pool.

Poor Dom. :(

And Patrick? I really can't dislike him. Yes, he is wishy-washy, but he is finding his way.
