I kinda liked having the weekly previews so I am sad they cut them.

Dr. Anders can GTFO, what a tool. And, as a feminist, his comment about Dixie being the prettiest psycyatrist he'd ever met irked me. He undermines her at work, doesn't trust her at all and has made public comments disparaging her credentials but that should be okay because at least the jerk thinks she is pretty?....

At the risk of angering Black Agnes I would really like to see Angie do something other than cry to jesus.

Do they no longer teach logical reasoning in school, because it seems Hunter could stand to take a few lessons.. His obsession with Miranda being a lesbian makes no sense at all, unless it is one of those things where someone calls someone else gay to distract from the fact that they themselves are gay.

And based on the More episode I guess Bianca finally ended her DC speech. She will likely spend the next two weeks stepping off the stage.

I think OLTL is pretty solid and generally good, often very good. But it has had fits and starts largely relating to the Todds' availability, specifically TSJ and that storyline. And I think AMC has been more consistently strong every week for a while.

Dixie is right about Cassandra's pregnancy is Cassandra's decision and not Angie and Jesse. Cassandra is how old now? She is somewhere in her middle 20's, 25-26 years old by now so she is a grown adult and I hope the writers will finally start maturing her. Whether to abort, keep the baby or give up the baby for adoption, should be Cassandra's decision and ONLY Cassandra's and nobody else. Now her family will play a part. Cass and Frankie are so close. It is time for him to come home.

I honestly didn't mind JL as Liza - I just thought of her as a separate character who happened to also be named Liza. But really, if AMC needs a lawyer on canvas, I'd much rather have Livia Frye-Cudahy back. You know, someone who was actually a GOOD lawyer. If Tom wanted to make a few appearances too, I wouldn't object to that either.

I don't see Tonya Pinkins returning. Not given her recent issues. I love her but she's a hot mess.

I always laugh when people accuse one soap lawyer of being better than another. Soap law is about plot not quality of representation.

Yeah, it's a real shame about Tonya. I love her, but uh, no.

It's true that any character and their profession is inherently plot-driven, but there are only two soap lawyers I ever really admired for their ability: Alexis Davis on GH in the 90s, back when she had a mind, and Téa on OLTL. Whether you love her or hate her - and the [!@#$%^&*] she did in a courtroom I often found morally repugnant, like defend Victor on that rape charge - Téa would do absolutely anything to win. She's the only one left that I know of where you always know she means business and has no limit.

As for AMC, Walt Willey did used to give great courtroom speeches as Jack. I do miss that. But that was back in the '90s too.

That's how they get an audience to experience joy. When success comes, it's very wonderful: you get paid for commercial success. The rest of the time -- you don't.''

Irrespective of a messy personal life, I think Tonya Pinkins is a hell of a talent. If people could keep hiring Robert Downey Jr. even during the worst time of his personal life, I don't see why anyone should shy away from her. I've been in the theater business since graduating college in the late '90s and I've only ever heard of her being a professional.

I think now, in fact, she's getting more theater work than ever. Not necessarily big splashy B'way musicals, mind you, but pretty well acclaimed material.

I am not a long time viewer of AMC, though, so I can't rate her performance on the show.

For the record, my favorite soap lawyer was Jessica Griffin but that's a different soap.

Anywho,

Liza (or any lawyer) could have a purpose if Jesse is exposed for his part in concealing Uri's escape from justice. Lea seems relentlessly by the book and if she were to discover how Jesse violated the law--well, I could see her reporting the matter (albeit reluctantly) to Internal Affairs or some such dept. Then Jesse would really need legal counsel. And I think it would be a good twist for Liza to represent him.

IMO, people shouldn't have kept hiring Downey but that's a separate discussion.

I love Tonya and Livia and if they want to bring her back on, great. Hell they managed to raise Michael Nader from the ashes so anything's possible but I'm not seeing it.

I think Cassandra's story will tie into Miranda learning about her conception, and then lead to the controversy of abortion when the pregnancy has resulted from rape since that is a ripped from political headlines story.

I thought Brooke and David could have traded far more barbs about their past. Brooke spitting back that she did confront the man who killed her daughter, but didn't shoot him. David throwing back that she did take down Jim T. with four bullets to the back. David saved her fiance's life as well as his brother, and Brooke's adopted daughter Laura. It shouldn't have gone deeper.

    • I just had thought of how to save the Perkins family. (Inspired by Rituals) -- What if Marisa Perkins was Augusta Lockridge's sister? Fictionally, they could've both been local girls, one married rich and one married poor. Originally, I was going to suggest that Marisa be Sophia's sister, but then I realized Joe and Kelly would've been first cousins.  Of course, it would've truly inspired Sophia was if Rosa Andrade sister, with Rosa and Santana moving in to help CC raise the kids once Sophia disappeared.  While this could've avoided both gross CC and Santana affairs, the times were not right for a story about intersectional inequity.

    • The Perkins family had potential to be a nice alternative to the more dysfunctional Capwells and wackier Lockridges... but I think a few factors did in the family. 1) Recasting of Joe Perkins 2) Bad casting of the Perkins Patriarch, and the one note writing for that character. 3) Lack of antagonistic interaction between the Capwells/Lockridges and Perkins.  (There was no awkwardness between Jade/Ted.. or CC disapproving of his son being friends with that Perkins girl, etc). 4) Wasting of Jade thus wasting the potential of the actress (which was realized on Days of Our Lives).  She had more potential than Laken oddly enough. The only member of the Perkins family that had appeal and a somewhat thought out story arc was Amy.  
    • @GymnastGuyThanks for posting the three new Capitol 1985 episodes today. The two labeled March 12, and 13 are misidentified. The March 12 labeled one actually aired November 12 1985 which I figured out because Kenny Rogers' movie Wild Horses aired November 12th and it was announced over the "March 12" Cap credits. In addition, Craig Carlson is listed in the April credits but not the March. Craig left Capitol sometime after July 1985 before he rejoined OLTL in the credits by October 15, 1985; he was replaced on Cap by Radcliffe and Hamner. In these posted episodes Radcliffe/Hamner names appear in the March 85 episodes but not in the April.

    • 5-15   And now...back to the A plot. I can't say enough about how great this week has been that I've been enjoying the fallout from the SilkPress/Eva reveal. I can't believe that it's been almost a week, and it is STILL going on. And they are playing every beat. And rightfully so. It's a strength to the story that this episode is full of mostly those beats with one (okay 2) C plots. I loved how this episode seem centered on dealing with the Bill of it all from his reactions to the reactions of the ones who actually care about him. And meanwhile, Kat getting a clue and connecting it back to the plot thread of Laura's accident.    Game recognizes game. My way of saying I loved Bill vs Silk Press Sheila. They have great adversarial chemistry. And I loved that Bill not only gave the heads-up to NuTed, but already figured out that Ted had paid her off. A dumbed-down villain Bill definitely is not. And awww at Naomi walking in on him and NuTed. lol. Like father, like daughter cuz they both stay reading people. Also loved the scene of Naomi and Chels together discussing their feelings about their father in light of the reveal.    It's so sad to see Kat thinking in the right direction and STILL took a wrong turn. That said...great to see the Laura plot thread picked up and Kat moving to get to the bottom of it. It's just sad that her strong disdain toward Eva is blinding her to the real threat. Makes her easy prey for SilkPress to manipulate and harder for Eva to get acceptance if people still think she's up to no good. Also intensifies their rivalry. Kat vs Silk Press Sheila was reaaallly good, too. The direction. The camera angles. The lines. Even got background music.

      And...HAHAHA I love how SilkPress Sheila reacts to the word 'crazy' the same way Sheila herself reacts to the word 'bitca' right before one of her catfights on B&B. Honorable mention to another SilkPress vs Eva scene where Eva avoids the gaslight and that Andre/Eva scene where he continues to be there for her.    And speaking of the reveal...now that I've seen the full episode...I've warmed to NuTed a bit. I thought in the brief scene I saw on my busy Thursday that he did what I love when a role gets recast. The actor uses some of the mannerisms of their predecessers, but not do a complete parroting of them. And that I felt he pulled off well. It allows for the actor to slowly enter their own vibe to a role and make it their own. And so far...I felt Keith was still...Ted. Love the scenes with NuTed/Kat. But time will tell if I feel he will make it his own.   The only good thing I can say about that Andre/Ashley scene...they both have gotten comfortable in their roles, and it was nice to see. I'm Team Dani/Andre over here. That said...I actually am loving the C plot of Ashley, Derek, and the apartment because they are finally getting drama. And I'm actually Team Derek though I completely understand where Ashley is coming from. Thankful that we got that phone call with her mother for her POV and background life. She really is not used to living with someone and what that is like. And it's relatable. But she's handling it all the wrong way. As for their overall place on the canvas though, I can't help, but think about what I said in the first week...they are just meta to me...getting the development...or lack thereof...that black characters get on other soaps...just in reverse.    Awww at June saying that she just finds the picture lovely. I don't completely believe her hehe, but it was nice.    The anvils about Eva's birthday...smh. lol.
