I think they mean in terms of the story not a romance. I'm sure the ultimate endgame is Matthew being an active father to Drew. The problem is how long will it take to get there. The longer Matthew remains MIA the more sense it makes to terminate his rights. I have a feeling though that by the time Matthew wants to be a bigger part of Drew's life Destiny will be like !@#$%^&*] you we got Jeffrey now.

I will say that I'm glad we'll be seeing the journey. RC wasted months and then wrapped everything up in a nice neat package.

I agree with this completely. And that's what I really really like about this younger cast- there are no "Starr crossed lovers" at the outset of the reboot. And so everybody can hopefully go where chemistry and good story takes them. Sure, Des & Jeff have clicked a little this week but that doesn't mean we need to assume they're tied permanently. Same for Dani & Matthew- they have some history and have shared some longing gazes & a drunk kiss but they could sleep together once or end up engaged down the road. And just because Destiny & Matthew started the show in a bad place doesn't mean they are off the table either. Other off canvas kids can home and mix it up with them. And they aren't limited to their age group- Dani could end up with Cutter or Jeffrey/Natalie in a year or so. I really don't know where they're headed beyond what we all can kind of envision the next month or two of story. And after years of largely knowing exactly where Ron wanted to go with couples, that's a lovely lovely thing.

Precisely. I want to know where all these scenes are leading us to. We have a good idea of who everyone is, I think, and what they want. Now get ON with it. If it seems like I'm suggesting a romantic reunion of sorts between Matthew and Destiny, I apologize, because that isn't what I meant by "endgame." unsure.png

Same. Frankly, I'm surprised that thought (to have him sign away his parental rights) has not crossed Destiny's mind.

"Don't talk about me like I'm not here." wink.png

Actually, I have been keeping tabs. I'm not thrilled with either show, but I keep hoping that something -- anything! -- will catch my interest.

Destiny wants Matthew to be a father to Drew. She's still kinda hoping he'll come around one day. However her tune could change especially if/when she starts dating Jeffrey. That's where I would take the story. After 3-4 years of being MIA I don't want her to welcome Matthew in Drew's life with open arms the way Natalie probably will for John (if he ever returns).

I think so, too. I think that might be why she seems to have refused all help, financial or otherwise, from the Buchanans. Destiny doesn't want just ANYone to be involved in her son's life. She wants the one who was partially responsible for his being there in the first place. Frankly, though, I doubt Matthew will EVER come around where Destiny and Drew are concerned. In fact, five will get you ten that if/when he and Dani DO hook up and if SHE ends up pregnant as a result, he'll be more ready to jump into THAT situation over the one he has going now.

If that happened Matthew would be done as a character, at least for me. I would have to wonder if race is a factor and I doubt I'd be the only viewer to do. Having a biracial sister doesn't mean he couldn't have a bias of his own.

I suspect we would have had a few withdrawals next year if Israel had won. I don't think many people would relish going to Jerusalem as things stand now. Not to mention it would have been a prime target for terrorist attacks.
    • And they've given us plenty. Sets, outdoor scenes, music licensing, etc. And that was the point of me using DAYS... so. It's obvious the casino set is not intended for long-term use, hence why it's likely it wasn't as evolved as the other community sets, etc.

    • I just had thought of how to save the Perkins family. (Inspired by Rituals) -- What if Marisa Perkins was Augusta Lockridge's sister? Fictionally, they could've both been local girls, one married rich and one married poor. Originally, I was going to suggest that Marisa be Sophia's sister, but then I realized Joe and Kelly would've been first cousins.  Of course, it would've truly inspired Sophia was if Rosa Andrade sister, with Rosa and Santana moving in to help CC raise the kids once Sophia disappeared.  While this could've avoided both gross CC and Santana affairs, the times were not right for a story about intersectional inequity.
    • https://www.instagram.com/p/DJxW5DLJLId/ Another World is my forever favorite soap opera. But it's finale is almost universally hated by its fans. What this is, is an edit where I've deleted everything I didn't like!!!
    • The Perkins family had potential to be a nice alternative to the more dysfunctional Capwells and wackier Lockridges... but I think a few factors did in the family. 1) Recasting of Joe Perkins 2) Bad casting of the Perkins Patriarch, and the one note writing for that character. 3) Lack of antagonistic interaction between the Capwells/Lockridges and Perkins.  (There was no awkwardness between Jade/Ted.. or CC disapproving of his son being friends with that Perkins girl, etc). 4) Wasting of Jade thus wasting the potential of the actress (which was realized on Days of Our Lives).  She had more potential than Laken oddly enough. The only member of the Perkins family that had appeal and a somewhat thought out story arc was Amy.
    • @GymnastGuyThanks for posting the three new Capitol 1985 episodes today. The two labeled March 12, and 13 are misidentified. The March 12 labeled one actually aired November 12 1985 which I figured out because Kenny Rogers' movie Wild Horses aired November 12th and it was announced over the "March 12" Cap credits. In addition, Craig Carlson is listed in the April credits but not the March. Craig left Capitol sometime after July 1985 before he rejoined OLTL in the credits by October 15, 1985; he was replaced on Cap by Radcliffe and Hamner. In these posted episodes Radcliffe/Hamner names appear in the March 85 episodes but not in the April.
