They should just retcon Brody back as Liam's father and bring him on as a spoiler for Cutter and Natalie. John who?

No Brody! Just no! That whole mess with Jess was just ugly and Natalie wasn't into him. She should have been maybe. But he was just a placeholder.

I think Michael Easton is very good at a few things that are only largely incidental to that character. I think he was always most comfortable on OLTL doing the cop stuff with RSW, etc, which is part of why he eventually worked much better on GH for me - he got to play the adventurous cop on a show that was uniquely suited to that kind of repeated action storyline, and his morose baggage was kept to a minimum. And he has a dry humor which can be very winning. The problem is that's only about 5-10% of the character. The rest is a void to me. And the Silas Clay role now is just embarrassing to watch. He's basically doing an even more alienated John, except he has to pretend to be a doctor or something. He clearly has no idea what he's doing, because (IMO) these days he can only play a couple notes without just sounding like the same guy.

And no, they weren't suited to evolution. But John has never evolved and I don't see why I should expect the character - which was never much but "Michael Easton, as a cop" - to blossom into something new with a new actor after all this time and all that dominance which left other characters wasted. And I don't see why I should have to watch him on a show where he just never worked after the first couple years when no one else is really raring for Ryan Lavery to return to AMC. Those characters have very similar issues in terms of overexposure and stagnation. At least Ryan had a reservoir of goodwill from the very distant pre-Frons past to potentially draw upon someday. What's John got? Because ME alone isn't enough, and he hasn't been since Port Charles was cancelled.

Agreed 100%. Even attempts to give him a family (his singer mom who disappeared, Michael who I guess he didn't notice is actually someone inhabiting Michael's body lol, a murdered sister suddenly on GH) have been utter failures (though I did like Michael in the end, they were barely brothers.) The character just needs ot be put to rest.

And I think that's what they're doing. This stuff is character stuff for Natalie but obviously can be played without John actually being on screen. We have heard NO grumbles of someone who IMHO could be a John recast (and we've heard casting news through August!) I have faith and trust.

I hated how Brody was sacrificed for Ford.. I liked him and Jess, I still wish Ryder was his

I love Brody, but I don't see any point in bringing him back. Leave him and Jess offscreen together.

I lust for love Brody too, but honestly there' sno place for him *right now*. He'd be boring IMHO with Natalie, etc, etc. I'd be open for him returning at some point but I see no romantic reasoning, and I don't see any other story for him outside of romance either.

Sadly, I think Mark Lawson is out of the business. Today he's a personal trainer or something to that effect.

He was before he got the role too (which I suspect was just meant to be short term when he was the evil drunk character he first was)--I suspect he'd be game if approached. But I stand by what I say.

Yeah!

:D!

That would be an interesting storyline, and it is along the lines of those socially relevant stories PP wants to tell.. Would be awesome if it's like the movie "Notes on a Scandal".. this "Mary Kay Letourneau" storyline could be awesome and the actor is legal now to tell a story like this

Would Vicki go lesbian and play the Judi Dench part? :D

You would be very wrong. Jolie fans, like every fan base had varying loyalty to the pairing as a whole, and to the characters individually. I never liked John except when he was with Natalie, and I also never hated him more than when he was with Natalie. Lol. The rest of the time I was pretty apathetic. He just faded into nothingness. I've enjoyed most of Natalie's love interests. But they've spent most of the last 8-10 years telling us the story that John is the love of Natalie's life. And that's what they seem to be continuing to tell us.

Ok, more than willing to trust the Jolie fans and be wrong on that. :) I was cheating with ATWT for the beginning years of John/Nat.

Good point. And she did throw the phone down and put on her party dress. Love that Natalie is getting character stuff when I felt like she spent the last few years being dragged from plot point to plot point.

I know... isn't the legal age in Pennsylvania 17 or something? I guess it must be a moral storyline, since it's a teacher breaking the trust b/w teacher and student.. I hope they don't do a double standard with this storyline

well someone posted a story idea about it..

It's still illegal if it's your teacher in high school (I'm pretty positive on this...)

I mostly like how they're writing Des a lot and I get that she wants to be independent but I think there's enough to work with from Matthew not wanting to be involved. The whole single mother working nights to pay rent is just not ringing as true when the kid is Asa's great grandson.

I admit I found it kinda ridiculous that she refused to let Drew stay with Jeffrey at Matthew's house who was assumed ot be home any minute--instead she was going to randomly see if her neighbour was free. LOL (WHo I guess babysits for cheap since Hulu+ is ONLY TEN DOLLARS A MONTH!!!!)

yeah it is... I got into in argument over someone on Twitter about this. they said that it won't be illegal because Jack will be held as a hero for sleeping with a teacher, since that's supposedly every high school boy's fantasy, and that it wouldn't be rape, it's kind of a double standard..

I don't think its perception as much as that they were zooming through the Victor/Todd beats (revealing him mid-ep 2) because they only had TSJ for a very little bit of time. The Dorian Senate stuff also plugged along pretty quickly the first week. Now everything else seems comparatively super slow.

I don't think that's unreasonable at all. My tolerance for Snoop is just much higher than random musical acts in Shelter since he's such a big fan of the show & Bo in particular. With 5 eps a week, things like that that take you away from story can be fun, especially if story is not on fire. With 50 minutes a week, its like we need every second devoted to our characters.

You put it really well. ANd it may have been in comparison with AMC where the first week felt relatively slow next to OLTL--and yeah they did plow through the Victor stuff (which I didn't mind--the reveal reaction aside--Iw as getting into the rhythm.) But like I said, I am really enjoying the dialogue and character stuff (I can see why some wmay want a break from the young adults, they've been on every day it seems, but the actual scenes feel real and relatable to me.)

Snoop has had scenes with Bo at least two times before I believe (one was when he performed at Ultra Violet) and it looks like he'll be trying to gewt Matthew to man up, so will have some story stuff. I'm fine with that--I guess I just get grumpier lately when I watch an episode and before I know it there's five minutes left and I know I have to wait between two to four days for more :P But yeah like the stuff with the random couple at SHelter--I LOVE details like that on hour 5 days a week soaps where it makes the extras and town feel more alive, and I know that point was obviously some plot point leading somewhere, but I do kinda tap my foot...

So nobody else wondered about Baby Liam's wellfare when Nat went to the bar? :P

Of course it's a double standard.

yeah.. like women can't be predators... I hope that when/if they do this, they don't sweep this under the rug

Sorry, good point--I thought I was being vague by casting through August, but I shoul be more careful as mostly spoilers bother me too.

I liked that too but I wish Jeffrey would have pushed her a little bit on reasoning. 1) No, Bo and Nora are not her family but they are Drew's family. It would have worked better if she threw in that she wants to be less dependent on them so that they don't think they have equal decision-making authority over how she raises Drew. 2) Yes, ok you want Matthew to step up- but even if the three of you were happily playing house, you're both 21 and that would be largely if not entirely bankrolled by Bo & Nora & the ghost of Asa for a few more years.

I mostly like how they're writing Des a lot and I get that she wants to be independent but I think there's enough to work with from Matthew not wanting to be involved. The whole single mother working nights to pay rent is just not ringing as true when the kid is Asa's great grandson.

The writing is a bit disjointed. Destiny's statement made no sense to me given the fact she isn't taking money from her family either. She wants Matthew to pay child support but the show is pushing the idea that Matthew is mostly broke. He wouldn't be paying her near as much as Bo/Nora do. In the end she would still be relying on them or her family.

Can the show please clarify Matthew/Destiny's relationship! From what I've seen he's pretty hostile towards her. The only reason he agreed to babysit the first time is because Jeffrey offered and he was acting childish. In all of their interactions Matthew is hostile towards her. We heard Nora saying he's built a wall between him and her/Drew. That seems to match what I've been watching on screen.

Now all of a sudden Matthew babysits for her? They talked about it and made plans? Since when are they on friendly terms? Everything we've seen so far suggests Matthew would tell her to go [!@#$%^&*] herself. I wish I would have seen that. Instead of this Michelle crap give me a scene of Matthew/Destiny/Drew alone.
