Not so much about the black thing, but let's be real...Matthew was never going to invest in Drew. Frankly, Nora should have no right to say anything. She cornered Destiny and browbeat her into giving birth. I'm pissed Cartini allowed that pregnancy to go to term.

I highly doubt it's a race issue... Matthew was never that kind of person.

I don't think ti is now but if he got Dani pregnant and was suddenly all about fatherhood I would have to wonder. Why would he be so geeked for fatherhood when it came to Dani but he can't do [!@#$%^&*] for Drew.

I think so, too. I think that might be why she seems to have refused all help, financial or otherwise, from the Buchanans. Destiny doesn't want just ANYone to be involved in her son's life. She wants the one who was partially responsible for his being there in the first place. Frankly, though, I doubt Matthew will EVER come around where Destiny and Drew are concerned. In fact, five will get you ten that if/when he and Dani DO hook up and if SHE ends up pregnant as a result, he'll be more ready to jump into THAT situation over the one he has going now.

Oh lord no to Dani pregnant- this crowd does not need another baby for awhile. I kind of wish Dani had stayed a druggy mess for a little longer.

I actually do think he'll come around with Drew and Des- I think the scene where he looked in the window all forlornly at them after Clint gave him the whole Asa's ghost is very disappointed in your unBuchanan-esque behavior speech clearly sets that up to happen. Maybe not in the next month but eventually. Either Jeffrey getting close to his kid and Destiny will make his head explode or we'll go the soapier route of Drew kidnapped or aplastic anemia or whatever. But I do think this story is headed to a Matthew sees the light ending.

Matthew always had feelings for Dani since London, and never got over Gramps Nate stealing her from him. A child with Dani would be a sort of a "repair" for him in his mind for all those wasted years.

I wish this Nora pressure element of the story (which was basically the main piece of the Des pregnancy story on ABC) was at least referenced here. But I guess now they've made him like 3 and Destiny clearly loves her kid so its less relevant. But still I wouldn't mind a reference

I think Cartini let this pregnancy go to term when the show was cancelled and they decided a legacy family baby is always a nice finale element. But I like that we're at least getting some fallout now.

Believe me, greens, I wouldn't much like the prospect either, lol.

Exactly--and I suspect it will happen sooner rather than later--come on, those saying there's not enough story here, we've already had several scenes of people talking to Matt or to each other about Matthew's behaviour in regards to Drew.

Believe me, greens, I wouldn't much like the prospect either, lol.

She can get hooked on harder and harder drugs and have a crack baby! Tantalizing, edgy, socially relevant story telling! I should be the new HW.

Yes, but talk is cheap, especially when these characters in particular are not complex enough to warrant Lemay-esque scenes of plotless, psychological exploration. Matthew's back-and-forth waffling over this mess just makes him a PITA to watch. I'm tired of the drinking games, the sexual fantasies, the crude innuendos and social media/Apple plugs. It's time to get this story -- if this is, in fact, a story, and not just vignettes about how douche-y and self-involved you are in your 20's -- off the damn ground.

I guess I'm biased cuz I still kinda enjoy the slow build while we get these, yes, fairly silly stories of them just hanging out--some sexual tension, hiding it, etc.

I think it's a lot of organic character building for those four characters. And I think most of it really works. It was certainly enough for a lot of the classic half-hour soaps - watching life unfold, and plots slowly build around them.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a nice, slow build, too. But the nice, slow build works only when characters are multi-layered and are portrayed by strong actors. Otherwise, you get Reilly's work on DAYS and on PASSIONS.

I think Matthew and Dani are fairly layered, contradictory characters - much like people actually are. They want some things and say some things but do other things. They love their families but they can't stand the yoke. Matthew wants a relationship with Drew but feels trapped and ashamed/too proud - something Bo and Nora themselves sussed out last week. Dani wants freedom but craves stability. And Destiny has her own issues, and with Jeffrey we're just scratching the surface of his competence and intelligence.

We'llhave to disagree. This is nothinglike Reilly's work which I largely despise because I find it so DULL. He doesn't have characters just talk--he has them endlessly say the same thing about the same plot points over and over--it's not character work.

I like the idea of Dani having a crack baby tongue.png Even better Dani won't know who her baby daddy is.

I'm ready to see them the quad do more. Matthew can work on a special project for Clint. Jeffrey uncovers another story for The Banner. I'd welcome the sugar baby story for Destiny since she isn't doing anything.
