When and Why Did Cartini Lose Favor on This Board?

Well put! And I think that's my main gripe. Even RC's stories that I find just eye rolling--EVEN some I find offensive, I feel like I would be willing to cut them more slack if I could trust the story structure and pacing--but by now I simply know and expect I can't. It's a danger on a soap when you feel it's not worth your time getting invested, or even giving them the benefit and investing in something you don't really like because you simply know the story will really amount to nothing.

They don't even know how to write for characters. Everything is plot point with characters changing to push whatever agenda they have at the moment.

Actually, he is. Gene Kelly couldn't act for [!@#$%^&*] either. (Lovely dancer, though!)

I'm not even going to dignify this untruth with a response. No, sir.

Honestly, I think pitting Passanante up against Carlivati in regards to use of history and veterans is like comparing quality to quantity. Carlivati can give us a scene full of vets, but if all they're doing is hurling insults at each other and awkwardly (and, honestly, embarrassingly) bringing up random storylines from 1983, then I'd rather watch something else. Passanante (or Goutman, whoever was steering that ship) sucked balls at putting vets on-screen, but whenever they were on the show, they were used way more effectively and in a way more respectful-to-history way than anything Ronald did at OLTL. I imagine with Ronald at the pen for ATWT, we would have had Bob cheating on Kim with Susan again, Luke revealed to be Holden's biological son (leading to Damian declaring a cartoonish revenge plot), Nancy doing something completely ridiculous and out-of-character (not that JP was innocent of this...), a poor imitation of Tom and Margo's wedding, etc. Full of vets, but nothing I'd be interested in seeing.

Marceline wasn't Tea's child meant tobe a *boy* too? You forgot that on your list (unless I'm mis-remembering.)

My list was in no way meant to be comprehensive. Not even close.

Speaking of Passanante is she still on RC's writing team for GH?

She did build a very big reputation for being a great breakdown (I believe) writer on OLTL in the early/mid 90s (which is why she briefly had a disastrous co-HW stint on that show post Malone), so maybe she's ok at it (I can't tell with GH as I blame the structure issues on RC)

Patrick and Marty's child was supposed to be a girl. Years later fans (not me) hooted with outcry when Cole turned up. I didn't give a [!@#$%^&*] - it was one line over ten years ago.

Ah, that's what I was thinking about. No tiny retcons like that don't bother me either.

LMFAO! As if dignity would even be associated with... well, nevermind.

If I was a Patrick and Marty fan I'd be pissed because Cole sucked!

I understand because Cole, Jr. aka Rafe Kovitch sucks equally as hard!

Eli being behind EVERYTHING. RC wrote Marty being pushed down the stairs, Melinda Cramer being killed, Ford being beat up just tie up to one person because he writes sh-t without thinking about where he wants to go with it. Oh and Eli was behind Tea having terminal cancer rolleyes.gif Hot ass mess.

This! This! This!

Compared to other boards and sites, bar TWOP, I'd say it's objective. Michael Fairman, Serial Drama, Daytime Confidential, etc. give me the impression they would bathe his feet in their tears of gratitude.

As much as I loathe to provide TWoP with any compliments these days, I'd have to strongly disagree that SON is more unbiased than that site. They're guilty of a lot of things over there, but I think that they've been a lot more balanced in their judgement (whether positive or negative) of Cartini than this board has ever been.

I'm not familiar with Michael Fairman (and to be honest, I don't think I'm missing a thing in skipping past him), but I've never taken simple-ass JG (because that's pretty much what DC boils down to) seriously to even factor in his 'opinion' on Cartini (or anything else). As for SD, well, I've shared 85% of their outlook on the show, so I can't say that I disagree with them one bit most of the time.
