Kelli Giddish played Dixie for a short time before they revealed her to be an imposter. The show tried to sell it as such and all the characters around her bought her as Dixie. The actress being much younger was a nonfactor onscreen and didn't play into why people would doubt the character's claims

She had zero Dixie-like qualities. She was more of a Lainie. Awful recasting considering the fact that they were prepared to go there.
