I thought it was OK too. Bringing back Kendall was a very smart decision and helped Bianca and Erica, who were both floundering. I thought Sam Page was good as Trey and the character shouldn't have been written out. Marj Dusay was if nothing else entertaining as Vanessa in that last year. I'm one of the few who didn't mind the handling of Maria's return as I thought Maureen was better suited to ELR (to me Eva was too cold to be a typical soap heroine) and I appreciated the bravery of her not being in love with Edmund and not falling in love with him again (this didn't last, but due to the breakup of the Callahans the reunion never does click). Brooke hiding the truth also gave Julia Barr some good material. David and Anna were a fun pairing.
I was also glad to see Tim back, although that was quickly dropped. The actor went on to have a decent run on Passions.
Something felt very off for me for most of Agnes' 1999-2000 (?) return, even as the show was meant to be having a return to form. Later we learned some of the fraught backstage issues, including, IIRC, allegations of a writer throwing a rolled up piece of paper at Agnes' head.
