HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

Peter Bergman's Cliff was a doctor, so it would fit with the AMC hospital motif. That said I was thinking what about Zach Conroy as he isn't on contract at B&B as the SORASed Matthew at OLTL.

Looks wise, you might be onto something

Hmm..Looks like he's being used again but that's no guarantee. He'd make a great Matthew

Cliff and Nina could return to anchor the Courtlandts!

I'd rather they bring their kids back. Both are basically clean slates. Bobby would be especially interesting if they brought Sam Grey back.

I actually just saw Brian Gaskill commenting on the Pippin Broadway revival facebook page. I wonder if he'd be interested in returning as Bobby.

Bring back Bobby Steggert.

I know he'll never come back now, he's hot on Broadway. I don't care. He's actually just hot, period. Bring him back.

If PP is being racist why would they agree to black characters in the first place?

This is what they do in television and film, although this is mainly an issue with dark skin WOMEN and not men. They'll agree to have token black roles on the shows, but only if they're mostly generic, light-skinned, skinny and know their place story wise. I don't think the casting director or anyone involved is racist. Race is a complex issue, but I do find it very telling how drastically they changed the character in recasting her. It would be like recasting Erica Kane with Melody Thomas Scott and Melody keeping the blonde hair. It just wouldn't make sense in any way.

I don't think they went out of their way to find a lighter actress for Destiny at all. I think they went out of their way to find an older one who was hot. And I think it's pointless to stan for Shenell Edmonds who was an incredibly weak actor, and the Destiny character was ripe for a serious reinvention as an adult character. Changing her dramatically was the only way she was going to be viable, and that meant an older actress with the ability to play romance, regardless of skin tone or weight.

I think the only way she was going to be viable is as a light skinned and skinny actor. We'll see, they might surprise us, but tv does this all the time, especially soaps. It's rate that you have a dark skinned actor who is allowed frontburner stories and is treated well. Look at how Y&R treats Tonya Lee Williams like she doesn't exit. She gave them 15 years of non-stop frontburner stories, yet she was the only vet brought back with no story at all (even when her husband, part of a supercouple, returned). And I'm sorry, but if Tika Sumpter was white or light skinned I can assure you she and Cristian's romance would've been a big frontburner story. The chemistry and there and viewers liked them, yet they were always in the background.

oh damn Errol, Jamey really has it in for you, he listed all these reliable "scoopsters" and you weren't on it. Kind of a backhanded swipe at you

He's acting so much like Nellie these days nbe.jpg

Anywho, I doubt it's JY or MCE I agree both seem happy at their respective soaps. Could be a guest star type of thing

I can't at Susan Haskell being a model. She's a great actress but not a great beauty.

Modeling is more about a certain presence and slightly unique flavor, I think, and Susan really had that in the early 90s.

Which is why it's difficult to believe Susan would be a model. She is probably one of the dullest people I've seen on Daytime. She has no presence IMHO.
