HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

I'm getting curious about what the sets will look like. Are they recreating old sets? New ones? Obviously, some sets should be back, but was there anything on AMC that they even need to bring back? LOL. I think I'd be good without seeing many AMC sets and just have them do them all over again. The hospital set was OK. Krystal's (besides the name) was familiar.

I hope Krystals BJ's is trashed. Doesn't look like KWAK/Bobbie Eakes will be returning and I never was a big fan of that set, especially whenever they had characters dining at that one table with the large, distracting mirror behind it. I hope a new restaurant/bar set is built, plus a cool new hangout spot for the teens icon1.gif

Sets I wouldn't mind seeing back - the hospital set, Chandler Mansion, Slater residence, & Fusion of course!

Do you mean Fusion or ConFusion? Either way, those were some of the worst sets I've ever seen on AMC. My favorite "new" set was the re-designed Wildwind. I don't care that it looked like a hacienda now, it was pretty.

Could we really have one without the other? ;-) LOL I meant both! I liked the sets a lot! biggrin.png

We knew there was a pretty good indication Julia was returning based on the JR side but I'm so glad it's been confirmed. If PV doesn't have Erica, they need Brooke.

I'm sure Wildwind will return. With David being there and all.. He probably still owns it.

I thought Caleb owned it.

That is one story he did decades ago and it's still remembered, good or bad. What does McPherson have that people remember, good or bad? Nothing and she just left last year. Besides, Thom Racina's career speaks for itself. He's worked on several soaps and had lots of success with it.

Well in theory I agree. My point was to say Racina is great for OLTL but the woman who wrote a middle aged shrink being posessed (and McPherson wasn't even a HW back then) and putting her at AMC and then ignoring the tone of many of Racina's most famous stories makes no sense to me.

I think the pacing was absolutely the problem. She did have some story ideas that were good on paper, the Carrie/Rafe affair and Abby/Austin for example--the execution was terrible. The network is not going to interfere on the pace, they only care about the stories. Each episode felt like it was 2 hours long, things were dropped constantly, things would strangely happen outside of a logical dramatic sequence. Those are all problems of the Headwriting staff. The new writers don't have that issue with pacing that they had and they replaced almost the entire writing staff.

I basically agree--except that DAYS has been a VERY VERY slowly paced show for eons (ever?) even amongst soaps. Surely some of that is Corday's style as a producer.

Julia Barr is returning.

Maybe Brooke and Adam are still married. Maybe that's who the actual love of his life was the whole time. Brooke! smile.png

Woohoo! I'm really excited to see the reboot now!!!!!

ICAM! I suspect since Fusion was Frons' pet it won't be coming back, especially without Greenlee or Kendall there. I hated that set and ConFusion so I hope they were both destroyed. The new Wildwind was quite nice, but I don't need that back either.
