HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

According to Thom Racina, we should see OLTL starting sometime in April. Given the 1/2 format, and only 4 new shows per week, although the re-caps may require studio time - shooting could easily start as late as 1st week of March for both shows (it would be cutting it close), and start airing airing in early April.

Let's say 1st week) 6 AMC and 4 OLTL, and then following week, 6 OLTL and 4 AMC, and then so on and so on... both shows would have two weeks worth of shows by the middle of March... a pretty good lead time, even if the shows aired April 1.

Bassey is a wonderful supporting payer and a real spark plug - she livens any scene. For that reason I'm not surprised someone finally realized her value. Even if Marian didn't have any family on the show she'd fill that function (as she did off and on for years before Marcy Walker returned in 1995).

It may matter because minimums for these projects are not that high, and I would be surprised if PP can offer much above those rates to start. Plus, many of these actors were working above minimum for the hour version of the show, and these rates are based on 1/2 hour format. It may not pay to work on the East Coast if you are located now on the West Coast.

I'll tell you one very recent character they need to bring back and recast: Randi, the hooker turned doctor's wife.

That character was a classic heroine in the mold of Donna or Karen on OLTL that was mauled by a horrible actor choice and worse writing. That character can still be so much more.

Scott and Madison I can take or leave. They had their happy ending and don't really need to be there.

I do think Tad and Dixie should shore up the Ruth and Joe end of the canvas, particularly if Jake and Amanda aren't around. But they should be, because Amanda and her family history and their madness could drive story for years.

I've been busy for the last few weeks and I've tried to "tune out" news of this new AMC/OLTL for fear that nothing happens, but now that a cast/head writers [for OLTL]/producers have been established and with yesterday's news of the Hulu deal, I'm looking forward to welcoming these soaps back into my life.

Quick question: Where are they taping? East coast? West coast? I heard some rumors about Connecticut awhile back.

Didn't early reports say that the two shows share filming space? If that's the case, then the slow movement for AMC is fine. OLTL actually has a writing team in place and a near-full cast. They could film OLTL first and film 5 weeks of the show--and since the show is half hour, they *could* film twice as much (ala PC or B&B) in that time frame. Then that gives AMC enough time to get everything into place. Of course, AMC wouldn't be that far ahead when it initially premiered, but it would catch up. Or they could launch with just OLTL and AMC could come a few weeks later. Would allow each show to get a good amount of promo as well.
