HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

My predictions for AMC:

Marlene McP and Agnes Nixon as co-HWs, who will dictate long term story and be responsible for breakdown, and 4 dialogue writers (at most). That will be the entire writing staff.

I think WW and CM are both contingent on SL and MEK actually signing on the dotted line. I think SL will only recur, and therefore, WW will not be on the show. MEK will sign, and then CM will follow. AM will be re-cast with Susan Haskell. That brings up the contract up to 10, and the rest will be offspring who have been SORAS.

JB, DC, LM and RM will recur as the senior members of the Chandlers and the Martins.

Dream those big city dreams.

My predictions for AMC:

Marlene McPherson will say "no," even after Prospect Park drives her to that deserted farmhouse and threatens her life with a pitchfork.

No one else will take the job.

PP says plans to begin taping have been put on hold "indefinitely."

No one will care anymore when they try again.

HA!

If they're recasting Kendall, I'd like to see Sarah J. Brown.

HELL. NO.

Oh, marceline, you know as well as any of us that OLTL is still casting at least several people of color and we've seen that with our own eyes. It's not like there were a ton of them on contract at the end, either. And if Shaun was still on contract you'd be dogging that too.

Angie and Jesse are a different story. OLTL did not have that kind of representation at the end, unfortunately, but for AMC they're big gets. OLTL has to start from a different position with characters like Destiny or the new guy, or bring back people like the Gannons.

That's if this doesn't all fall apart now, of course. Usually in our story this is the point where PP disappears for two months and then announces failure to be blamed on other parties.

I'm not claiming to know anything. I'm perfectly willing to wait and see what these shows bring. Assuming they happen. But I don't believe that it's fair to claim that PP has issues with diversity when 50% of the characters currently signed on AMC are minority.

As for whether I *would* be "dogging" Shaun on contract, would it be too much of a strain for you to not pretend that you know what I "know" and/or how I *would* react to a hypothetical situation?

I don't presume to speak for you. I would appreciate it if you didn't speak for me.

Except Vincent Irizarry and poor Lindsey Hartley.

The AMC HW is already signed on, btw.

Whoever they are, they'll walk. I guarantee it.

Can't speak for Vinnie, but mascara does NOT pay for itself.

I want RJ back on OLTL.

Him and his awesome dreadlocks.

FYI, Stickney doesn't have dreadlocks anymore. He got rid of them more than a year ago.

And I don't believe it's fair to claim that an all-new OLTL has issues with minorities when everyone here knows very well they're casting more people of color.
