Members KMan101
Hmm. Interesting. I wouldn't mind that. I could see that.
Members Vee
He's where he belongs, IMO. He does great work there and he seems very happy. Ricky Paull Goldin had his faults but when they let him play Jake as a lighter, more irreverent kind of guy, he really worked. If he's not down, they need to get someone equally charismatic like a Michael Park - who I'm sure wouldn't do it, but someone like him. In fact, that whole Jake and Amanda pairing was full of potential, especially given the Dillon family history of mental illness which they toyed with but didn't fully explore with Amanda. That's a gold mine. If they have to recast both parts simultaneously, though, I'm not so sure. I guess a five year gap and the time off the air can allow for that. Members MrQuartermaine
Not sure if anyone posted this, but in Michael E. Knight's interview with SOD, he shares that he heard Ray MacDonnell will be returning as Joe.
Members EricMontreal22
I suspect that would be on a recurring basis--perhaps even more so than Canary, but I hope he does.
Members marceline
I've always thought Park could make a good Kevin recast on OLTL. Assuming of course, nobody came to their senses and asked Dan Gauthier. AFAIC he deserves the right of first refusal on that character.
Members Catsinthebag
I hope not. He was the worst Jake IMO. I read somewhere that Jon Hensley was AMC's first choice for Jake in 1996 but he decided to return to ATWT instead. Maybe they could reach out to him now... Members EricMontreal22
I actually liked Lowry on OLTL--which surprised me because I NEVER liked him on AMC. Yeah RPG could get obnoxious but I still vastly prefered him.
Members rhinohide
I don't know what coast he's on or if that would impact his decision, but RPG would be a good McBain recast. So would Lowrey. Hell. I'll take anybody but Easton. Evidence. Ron Carlivati.
Members alexisfan07
No idea what this means but Bren tweeted me back @RadBren13 Do you know if Canary will be contract or recurring? Bren @RadBren13 @vicksvapor77 Everyone is reoccurring. Different structure. @vicksvapor77 It keeps costs low, allows the actors to do other things, and lets them bring in various vets. It's a great model.
Members ~bl~
Basically it sounds like no one is on contract...you only get paid if you work. If you find another job, the show you are on is out of luck and has to recast or rewrite. This could work or backfire if someone books a high profile gig and leaves mid-story. I find this crazy due to the potential revolving door.
Members marceline
Works for me. But it makes me wonder about the OLTL release where they specified that Ringgold, Treasury and Chokti were recurring. What's the difference between them and the other cast members? Members Lskreet
I'm guessing most of them would look for work during their down time. If someone happens to book something more permanent then the show will probably work around them or recast. Although let's be honest how many of the people who signed on have been working on a consistant basis?
Members dragonflies
So if everyone's recurring then why the bug up PP's arse about Starr, Todd and John, they can easily do both
Members ~bl~
That's a good question marceline. I was wondering that too about the OLTL recurring performers.
Members alexisfan07
I asked her about OLTL and she said this. Maybe she's wrong but I'm not sure. Didn't the casting sides specify contract vs. recurring? @vicksvapor77 Bc OLTL people hadn't been out of work as long, people haven't moved on, they still live on East Coast...
