Y&R: Recently fired actress returns

Damn, the acting business is a tough business. Marcy accepting crumbs from Y&R after they unceremoniously dumped her.

I cannot get over all this nostalgia over Vail Bloom. Most of the people on this board bitched about her from day one. They complained that she could not pass for a DA and came off as a playboy bunny/model type.

Who's idea was it to bring back MR? There was no void from Abby being gone that needed to be filled and JG said she was not needed just last month.

I always liked Vail Bloom. She was charismatic, sexy, fun. Her Heather kept the men on theri toes and I could see why all the gus were interested in her. Landon was dull as dishwater. I never saw her on ATWT so I'm talking strictly from her Y&R appearence and I didn't see anyone gushing about Daniel and Heather with her the role.

People warmed up to Vail Bloom after she was fired, and especially after having to endure Eden Riegel.

I, personally, always liked her.

With and without her faults.

This just means they have no plans for Abby and will only use her for filler or to be some type of commentator on Newman drama.

It's telling that her entire damn thread is about an actress who was fired 3 years ago and played an entirely different role. Abby was and will always be a pointless, pointless character.

This has got to be the explanation because all the people who "always" liked her were damn sure were missing from the Y&R thread where she was constantly viciously ripped apart on a daily basis.

Exactly. Back in 2008/09 most of the board (aside from me and maybe a person or two) really hated her portrayal.

On topic: It is sad that this is mostly about VB instead of Marcy. Speaks volumes about it, really.

Vail was never the greatest actress, but the subsequent recasts made me appreciate what she brought to the role in retrospect.

Plus, no one did the door constantly getting slammed in their face better!

I agree. I didn't care about Heather one way or the other, but once the recast began, it was clear that this character would never be pretty or appealing again. Getting rid of Vail Bloom for that overrated beast, Eden Riegel, because of her alleged daytime star power was heinous! She flopped.

I will probably be the only one, but this makes me happy. Despite the age difference, I loved her as Abby and I find that some people are unnecessarily cruel when it comes to her simply for the way the writing has been surrounding the character. Not to mention people are constantly talking about how "old" she is but I personally buy that she can pass for a 20-something.

I agree with you on all counts. Thrilled Marcy is back.

I get bad memories from that era... ending a viable chemistry-couple Adam/Heather by turning Adam into a baby-murdering-stealing guy who then falls for his victim, then killing off Colleen, turning up the number of psychos, more bad stunt casting.... meh, bad bad.

Maybe Griffith's current Y&R isn't all that bad. LOL

I don't watch and certainly don't care about Abby, but I didn't know MR was in her 30s until I read it here. I thought she was in her early 20s, to be perfectly honest.

I knew she had to be 30s by Y&R cuz she looked old in that Bring it on movie and that was a few years prior to Y&R. On Y&R it stands out even more that she's in her 30s not 20s because the character acts like a 20 something year old party girl.

I remember a scene with Ryan and Sharon Case before Rylan left where she looked just as old as Case.

God, Rylan is just a terrible epic fail of an actress in this role.

I will say that Rylan is better than she was on Guiding Light. I was one who enjoyed Crystal Hunt as Lizzie and when they replaced her with Marcy it was so jarring. The poorly dyed blonde hair was bad enough, the over the top cutesy acting was puke-worthy, but worst of all--Lizzie and Roxie Spaulding both looked like they'd aged 15 years. It was hard to take. I never understood the instant love for her then and I feel the same way about her on Y&R.

I liked her on GL - I thought Hunt was cold and hard and I had a hard time not staring at her nose. But she was way too old and one-note for Abby. I never believed her younger than about 30-35.
