So glad to see Ace back, the bright spot of the classic series’ final days.

That said, this whole Chibnall era has been seriously boring and messy long overdue to end. Although I’m not sure what an RTD 2.0 era will bring.

LOL speaking of which I keep seeing a lot of talk that Tennant is coming back to the role just with a different Doctor personality. I can’t tell if it is just speculation or if there is some actual truth to it.

Tegan is one of my favorite Doctor Who companions of all time. Some people love to say all she did was moan, but she was actually extremely important in paving the way for the more complex companions of the revival series - we saw various members of her family (at least three, in three different stories) and we also saw a number of stories and key events through her eyes. She even learned to pilot the TARDIS (sort of). I knew there had been plans over the years to bring Ace back but I never thought we'd see Tegan again.

I'm very torn about this, because I truly disliked Tegan's exit - it was forced, grimdark in all the ways that epitomize how detrimental Eric Saward was to the show, and felt too small and rushed for a character of Tegan's longevity. I never felt that should be her final moment on the show. I'd love to believe this can be a long-overdue chance to right that wrong.

Yet, if she is returning just to be killed off, bait and fodder for a finale almost no one is invested in, then it will probably kill the last bit of good will I have left for modern Who. I desperately hope that isn't going to happen.

Rakhee Thakrar rumors are swirling again re: the Fourteenth Doctor under RTD. I know @DRW50knows her from one of the UK soaps - I can't recall which one. But these didn't pan out on something else awhile back, so I doubt it will here. One never knows.

It seems it has been corroborated a bit more, though, that Chiwetel Ejiofor was offered the Eleventh Doctor under Moffat and turned it down.

If any of you get MeTV, the next  episode of Collectors Call (which airs on Sunday I believe) is going to have some Doctor Who collectibles, and included a glimpse of Lisa Whelchel dressed as the Fourth Doctor. It makes me happy that even after all these years, he is still the most iconic Doctor.

    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.
    • Mac Scorpio and Kevin Collins, GH

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.
