Members R Sinclair
As usual, you're twisting my words around -- which I despise. Let me, once again, make it even simpler so you can get it. When I said she's nobody's victim, I was speaking about Jason giving her the cold shoulder (and Liz not pussyfooting around Sam in their exam room conversation). The first time she kept vital information from him in order to protect him, he got angry, told her he doesn't like it when she does it and said not to do it again. Fine. Chalk it up to a mistake. The SECOND TIME she did it in just a few short weeks, it's not a mistake. It's a choice. If she knows how Jason feels about her doing this and she makes the decision of her own free will to DO IT AGAIN, she's got nobody to blame but herself. Franco, being raped and being "slapped around by Jiz" have nothing to do with her decision to keep Jason in the dark about the baby's paternity and Jason's biological relation to Franco. Those are excuses but not justification for her continuing to do something against her husband's wishes, therefore, Jason's coldness is not unjustified. I'm sorry. Am I not making sense to everyone, or is it just the people using selective memory that are having a problem understanding what I'm saying? I'm saying if you're in a marriage, you do something your spouse immensely dislikes, tells you so and asks you not to do it again -- and turn right around and do it again, almost immediately, the only thing you're a victim of is your poor decision making. Members SweetPea36
Oh poor Sam. She has all of these "moments of weakness." Poor girl is never responsible for anything she does because all those mean people keep making her do the wrong thing. It's kind of like when she paraded around her mother's husband in next to nothing clothes. Then after they had sex, he made her do it. Poor Sam. Members Skin
Yeah I understand your point, you are defending Jason's actions because in some bizarre way this story has been twisted to be more about Jason being lied to then about his wife being raped by his own twin brother. You can staunchly believe and defend that notion as much as you want -- the sad thing is that is directly the perspective the writers are writing it from, besides the fact that Jason looks like a complete @sshole. However it doesn't change the fact that this story is disgusting and the way both Jason and Liz are treating a rape victim is despicable by all measures. No matter what justifications this show argues and how many commentors agree with the treatment it's still reprehensible. Badgering a rape victim about her assault and pregnancy that came from said assault is twelve different thousand cases of bad taste, and it's not hard at all to see that. Add in Sam's health defects, pregnancy issues and everything else and both members of Laison are complete scum for treating her the way they have been. But this is nothing new. Liz and Jason have always treated others like garbage. But excuse us if we aren't all supposed to agree that Liason was "in the right" for attacking Sam for carrying a child that was produced from rape. What a horrible, bad, mean, person Sam is. Members Cheap21
Jason has a right to be upset with Sam for blabbing. I called it the minute she opened her mouth to John again and thought Jason would be justified in his feelings. He however is taking it to a whole other levekl and seems to have NO COMPASSION or regard for what Sam is going through. Everything since the reveal has been all about HIM as if only his feelings matter in the world. The fact that his wife was raped and now carrying the baby of her rapist doesnt matter. He just let her leave their home and and doesnt even try to bring her back after she was KIDNAPPED and almost MURDERED. Like WTF? She telling John about Franco merits her to get the shoulder like that. He hasnt even tried to see her or act concerned. There is no justification for Jason's current treatment of Sam. Its cruel. With all that said its too bc she has only been concerned about him. She put her own feelings and trauma on the backburner bc she was so focused on how the news and revelation would affect him. She hasnt even really dealt with whats happened to her and how she was violated. Jason's pain is been the priority and he's taken that and pretty much spit in her face. Members R Sinclair
Oh, for Christ sake. This is exactly why I've asked you to quit responding to my posts. You twist my words and make it into something that I've never even said. If you want to believe Sam is a victim of Evil Liason, by all means, go for it. But quit using my posts to twist my words to suit your agenda.
Members R Sinclair
You touched on everything except why she made the decision to keep him from knowing the information she got from Heather after knowing how he feels about her last failed attempt at protecting him by not telling him anything. What did she think? The second time would be the charm? As for his treatment being cruel, it's a matter of opinion. It's unrealistic to think a man would happily love and raise the baby of his wife's rapist without any conflicting feelings of his own. His feelings are about the baby and Franco, not about her. Sam MADE THE DECISION to move out. He didn't kick her out. I don't see how it's cruel that he let her make her decision. That, if anything in this crappy story, is the only thing that's true. Jason believes in letting people make their own decisions... because of the very same reason he's pissed with Sam: He hates it when people don't let him do the same. Members rhinohide
I'm trying to figure out what part of this story is about Sam being raped? She isn't talking about how violated she feels or suffering any bad dreams or reactions to the rape. Maybe if she were, I'd feel like this was a story about her being raped. But all we've seen is her torment over Jason not accepting Franco's baby. And it's not about Franco the rapist. It's about Jason's evil psycho twin. I hate rape stories because I hate that I always feel like soaps trivialize this violent crime. That is most certainly true in this case. Sam's rape is total plot point to manufacture a WTD story and keep Franco alive in a way. But the rape isn't top of mind for Sam. It's hardly part of the story and that's not at all what she's struggling with here.
Members SweetPea36
That's all true. Also a major part of the problem is that Sam herself did not know whether she had been raped afterward, a big WTF for women who were watching. Then they dragged that out forever. It's not as if Sam is such a scintillating character that most viewers were hanging on the edge of their seats waiting. By the time the reveal came, few gave a shht. Members Susan Hunter
Some notes about today's show. 1. I actually liked how everyone is so skeptical about Connie/Kate. At least it was an honest reaction. 2. Where in the devil did they find that newscaster? I usually give bad soap acting a pass, but my gosh that was off the chart. 3. I never realized until today, how much the kid who played Jack before the SORASing looks like Roger Howarth. 4. This is probably unpopular, but I am really digging Sam and McBain. I see real chemistry there.
