Megan Ward's hair was perfect. I can't remember the last time that a woman on the soaps actually looked as stylish (hair and wardrobe) as her Kate did.

I like JL's hair. I see no reason for her to cut it.

I only started watching in '00. I've since watched parts of older stories on youtube, namely the baby Michael saga. I've seen an amount of the heart transplant and I loved what I've seen. I remember really liking RR's Maxie with Zander, because I loved Zander and everyone turned on him but her, lol. I didn't think recasting Maxie was necessary at ALL and I was horrified when KS was announced and I thought she sucked in the heart transplant 2.0 and Jesse stories, but like I said, I thought KS owned after the Maxie-narrated episode in Sept. '06 and the deal was sealed with Metro Court hostage crisis for me. But it was my understanding that Maxie wasn't recast because "RR wasn't sexy enough," but because of a decade-long casting war between GH and "Days." Maybe I'm wrong . . . ?

I don't know how Kristen Alderson or (and I know this is an unpopular opinion) her brother stayed employed at OLTL through the finale, and I can't believe she was transplanted to GH. KA seems like a sweet girl, but she's a disaster actress with no recognizable appeal, IMO. The only thing about Starr I liked was the theoretical concept of her "Starr X'd" romance with Cole. And good God I hated Starr as a little hellspawn girl.

The Maxie character was changed a lot under Storms. It doesn't surprise me that a sizable amount of fans don't see JL as Maxie, when you look at how Maxie as a character was changed under Storms you begin to see how much she exemplified that Maxie compared to the character JL is currently playing.

I guess if you weren't into KS it wouldn't matter much, but from my POV, KS/Maxie was a situation where the actor became synonymous with the character. So many of my opinions about Maxie were influenced by KS' look, mannerisms, and, yes, voice. LOL. Like I've already said, I like JL, I just came to equate KS and Maxie.

Snarly is an iconic character played very successfully (according to the soap press) by three different actresses (and ummmmmmmmmm Jennifer Bransford) and I think they've all worked and embodied the character in different ways. TB's my favorite, and even though I felt/feel so assaulted and offended by SB and LW's Carly (though I even felt that way about TB's Carly, God what a bitch of a character), I think they're great in the roles. LW doesn't seem to be tolerated around here much, but I do really think she's everything Carly needs to be--a horrible subhuman.

I never understood this and think it's highly inappropriate because of Georgie. But I've never had much use for Spinelli.

You're wrong Maxie was recast to make her sexier because the first recat was a hot mess! Danica Stewart was horrible as Maxie and didn't last long and then Passions scooped her up and then NBC gave her a short lived web soap Coastal Dreams. She was the sexy new rebellious Maxie. She was sexy new prostiute Jessica on Passions

It really depends on your perspective I thought the character hit rock bottom when she was forcing Lucky to sex her up in exchange for pills she stole from the Hospital. The Maxie that we knew up until that point in the story would never have done that. It just progressively got worse until the show tried to redeem her with Georgie's death. Maxie underwent tons of changes. The bad girl overhaul, the fashion apprenticeship, Spinelli's girlfriend, her rivalry with Lulu, etc. so many things changed for her in such a brief amount of time that KS just sort of became that version of Maxie even if the character was completely different from what RR's Maxie was. I can definitely see why viewers are having a hard time with JL. KS' Maxie was definitive and impressionable even if her Maxie was completely different then the one GH viewers grew up with.

But then they immediately rehired RR (and RR was playing Maxie when she was mixed up with Kyle and the drugs and stuff). RR also didn't have a storyline for forever and there was talk of her leaving before KS came around because she wasn't on contract and wanted to be someplace else where she'd have job security. She allegedly auditioned for "Days'" Belle in '04 when KS left that role. Was RR's last appearance for Lila's memorial?

At least Maxie was driving story at that time. She has done jack all in recent years aside from squeaking SPINELLI! and bitching with random female characters, and occasionally being used as a whore.

    • DePriest left in January 1988. According to the AWHP, Rose last appeared nearly a year before in February 1987 while both Sara and Peggy appeared as late as October 1987.
    • Annie was not brought in as an antagonist for Reva. Reva wasn’t even on the canvas when Annie first appeared in late 1994.
    • The speculation……….very entertaining.
    • I had forgotten that several Days stars came out strong against Melissa. Good for them!
    • That would have made sense. Did all these characters get dropped when DePriest left or had they already been dropped?
    • The other issue with Missy: in June 2020, she "liked" some social media posts by Candace Owens -- things Candace said that were against Black Lives Matter.  That is described here https://tvline.com/news/melissa-reeves-racism-days-of-our-lives-instagram-controversy-2894568/ I don't know if that was ever resolved.
    • She appeared onscreen not long after Rose Livingston and Sara Montaigne, and we found out that Sara was Rose's estranged daughter. I wonder whether Peggy might have been part of that family group -- or else they were just juggling a few different potential mysteries so that they could develop whatever seemed to be getting the best response from the audience. They didn't do anything much with Rose and Sara really either. Maybe Rose would have become more prominent if Rachel and Mac had split up over Mitch, or if Sara had really flourished. In some ways I can picture Cheryl being affected by MJ's prostitution similarly to how Josie was distressed by finding out about Sharlene. But I can also see that Josie as a Frame being involved with Matthew would have different stakes for Rachel and Sharlene than Cheryl being involved with Scott. I do think the solution for Cheryl would have had to be a badder boy than Scott -- either a real bad boy who would do her wrong, or the kind of bad boy (not Chad!!!) who is essentially misunderstood and other people just don't understand. Cheryl would also have been better off with some friends her own age. Matthew and Josie benefited a bit from having other teenagers to interact with.
    • Sally Spencer was a decent actress, but the writing destroyed the "M.J." that Kathleen Layman had built. Layman had a quiet strength about her, and she and Osburn really felt like sisters. Spencer's character should have been either an unmentioned sister, or maybe Jake's that grew up close to Kathleen, M.J. and the rest, but was away for a few years before joining the force. Kristen Marie was o.k., but I always got a mousier vibe from her. Being pigeon-holed with Scott for most of the run hurt things for her, as well.  The Loves were also underserved between Rhonda Lewin and Philece Sampler. Philece would have been better as Nicole. Thank goodness Anne Heche  showed up for the next round of auditions. Christopher Holder was mediocre as Peter, but given a shot, I think Marcus Smythe could have stuck around for a while.  I would have had Peggy Lazarus be a Frame -- possibly an ex-wife for Vince with an agenda. Smythe and Hollen had  a fun chemistry that could have kept the two around.. Bringing recasts for  Cheryl and Ben back mixing it up with other Frames. Corys, Lawrences at the time might have kept all the families stronger.
    • shoot...he said in that Locher room with Krista. I think he met her before that---she was doing Broadway and they had mutual friends or an agent maybe?
