And that, I must say, is the biggest sin of all. If you want to make a TV show (or film, or play, or novel, or whatever) featuring characters who are predominately or exclusively one ethnicity or another at the exclusion of all others, that's one thing. However, as Billy Wilder (who was a white filmmaker, yes, but who also was a smart filmmaker, if you ask me) once said: Never bore the audience. When you do that, you're done.

I did not want to get into another show, but since it's on between when I watch The Killing and Game of Thrones I was pulled in.

The actress playing Marnie is so [!@#$%^&*] beautiful. It kind of sickens me.

There are so many little things that made me fall in love with the show, like the appreciation for Cheese Strings. I mean, those are [!@#$%^&*] delicious.

I think the virgin is my favourite character, which is weird for me, because I hated her on The United States of Tara.

Oh, and Marnie should be happy about the latest developments, her boyfriend is an effing dickweed. Hannah did absolutely nothing wrong and if she's villainized for it, I'll be pissed. Though, I wonder if this will change of her opinion of him as it certainly wasn't boring for him to what he did. But still, what a passive-aggressive asswipe. Point for his body though, I didn't think it would be so nice. But most importantly, his !@#$%^&*] friends needs to die. He's horrible.

I gave the show another chance and fell in love with it. I don't quite now what to describe but there have been multiple moments where characters have said or done something that is completely relatable and feels very, very real. Dunno... some crazy shits starts happening. Halfway through the season and I'm very glad I'm trying it again.

Loved tonight's episode a lot.

Adam calling Ace a jambroni was hilarious. Especially because I can't stand Zachary Quinto even remotely. One of those actors I irrationally hate and it doesn't help that he is the least sympathetic actor no matter the character he is playing.

And Jessa's mini rant about Mimi Rose was on point. I do, however, think the Mimi character was quite fascinating. Gillian Jacobs was a great addition.

Most importantly, it is the best decision ever that Andrew Rannells is now a series regular. I'm pretty sure he's become my most favourite human. I'm obsessed! Tonight was no exception, "The gays in Michigan are probably awful. I imagine a lot of cargo pants." laugh.png

This season has been the best season out of all 4 dare I say it.

I hate Jessa so her versus Mimi Rose was a lose lose situation. I'm starting to hate Adam but if not for how hot he is.

Hannah's relationship with the student was disturbing and in real life I'd slap her silly if she ever caused my daughter to go thru pain like that.

I can't believe last nights episode was the season finale. I literally feel like nothing happened this season. Literally all of the characters feel like they are in the exact same place they were last season. This season was the most forgettable, of the series. Just literally nothing of consequence seemed to really happen this season outside of the Hannah-Adam break up.

I felt that way about the third season. I went in prepared to hate it but I ended up liking the developments and character work, which made me give the show a second chance after a pretty bleak first and mid second season impression. I think the Beach House episode is my favorite episode of the entire series.

Marnie, Jessa and Adam are the most interesting characters to me, and I even though I really dislike Lena Dunham, I find the perspective of the show to be incredibly refreshing and fulfilling. I wish Hannah had gone threw more self discovery and gone threw the Graduate school program. It was abandoned for to quickly and it was nice to see Hannah challenged and called on her [!@#$%^&*] for once.

Mimi Rose has been a unicorn of brightness this season. My only problem is that there wasn't enough of her. There was only 3-4 episodes and she really was a bright spot this season. Zachary Quinto was inconsequential, but I really loved Mimi.

    • I would argue that Another World never played "everything" for laughs. Even when there were comedic scenes in some storylines there were other storylines that were not intended as comedy.  You give 1988 as the end point, and Mary was on the canvas from August 1986 to February 1989, so she must have overlapped with the despised laughs you are referring to at least half of the time she was there. I honestly can't recall any real comedy that Mary would have been part of. I don't think she was lighthearted about choosing between two husbands, MJ's prostitution, Kathleen's death, or even her son Scott dating her daughter Cheryl.  I would have said that the amount of comedy depended on the head writer and there was more comedy under Richard Culliton and Gary Tomlin in 1984 than subsequent headwriters. I guess there was an outbreak of more comedy when Cecile kidnapped Cass from his wedding in 1986, but in general the Sin Stalker wasn't presented as funny, Mitch's return wasn't funny, John's arrival wasn't funny, Reginald wasn't funny. The tone was serious even if the plots verged on the ludicrous. And maybe that's what you mean -- but I would make a distinction between intentional comedy and storylines I can't take seriously for other reasons.
    • I'm excited for us to get back to a full weeks worth of episodes and also us beginning to move into the episodes filmed once the show premiered. We're already starting to see changes in the lighting and the way certain characters are styled. Of course we know this week we have our first recast as well. After the big Eva reveal, I hope the show continues to move into a positive direction and that we see them starting to fix some of the things we've all had issues with.
    • It seems like they may have been going in one direction for Andre and then changed their mind. He had this player/bachelor thing going at first where he was messing with Dani, seemed to be feeling Eva, and then somehow smitten by bland Ashley of all people. I feel like Ashley was supposed to be the one that finally made him want to be with someone and settle. The way he talked her up in those earlier episodes was really confusing. The wonderful, amazing nurse Ashley and conveniently she's unattainable because she has a partner, but he can't stop thinking of her and takes these busted pics of her. It was a mess. However, it all seems to have been dropped. I honestly feel like Andre can go. That may be an unpopular opinion but I don't need his breathy final syllable to be content with BTG. It's always like "There's gotta be another wh-ahyy"
    • This is where McLaibey falls apart. It becomes clear that McTavish had not thought past Brent/Marion...so the energy drops and she starts throwing things at the wall (Blakes twins, Lonatrat.)   Fans HATED this funeral. Everyone is mad at everyone else, which is fine, the death of a beloved community figure would give people a reason to come together...(Quint and Nola could come together at least for  a bit to support each other, Nola and VAn could finally admit they kinda, sorta like each other) Its just an example of McTavish's mean writing.   I have a feeling they were going to make Dahlia Frank's kid but they chickened out. Making Tina a prostitute didn't help, they could have been lovers when they were young but felt society pressure to part. Marcus took over David's role (you can't have two young black men at that time...)   Get used to it...this will happen, the same storyline over and over until the end.
    • Does anyone happen to have a recording or any footage of Jennifer’s funeral?
    • It's such a shame that the conflict couldn't be resolved in a mature way between the two actors.. especially since Albee was a bigger asset for the show in terms of character and his popular will they/won't they pairing with Deborah Saxon. One of the things about Edge was that it was just as popular with male viewers as it was with women.  It's one of things I think the show forgot in the final year or two with the deemphasis on the male characters.
