Tsk, tsk. Just as I feared. It was the oversaturation of HARLEY, not Reva, not Alexandra, not Beth, that caused the dramatic ratings decline in 2002. Thanks for the FACTS! ;) And not Kim-Zimmer-was-on-Love-of-Life facts, but REAL facts.

This is fun, indeed.

The first scene where Phillip met "Ruth", he was putting eyedrops in his eyes. That was the only explanation they gave for Phillip's blurred judgment, so to speak.

Yeah, I don't remember that but I do remember when Alex put on a blonde wig and pretended to be Beth in order to make Alan think that Beth wanted him back when Alex was drugging his tea and trying to gaslight him. During the same episode, he also hallucinated that she was the Queen of Hearts and she and the butler were zombies. Good times. Goooooooood times.

I don't know if he hated her but he did want to replace her with Hayley Sparks permanently at one point and he made no secret of the fact that he prefered Beth Chamberlin and Crystal Chappel as leading ladies. He saw Harley strictly as a supporting character. Considering how unpleasant the character became after she was put in perpetually-imperiled-heroine mode, I tend to agree with him.

I agree and that's why I think she might have been a good Liza recast on AMC. A bitter, resentful Liza.

And the eyedrops were only done on Grant's insistence. He knew that scene was stupid and that Phillip would know it was Harley in a second. Wheeler refused to change it but allowed him to improvise the eyedrops bit as a reason why he didn't recognize her. Months later, Harley had a flashback after Phillip's "murder" of Philip's confrontation with Ruth at Company where he rips off the disguise and asks Harley if she thinks he's stupid or something to that effect, implying that he's known for a while.
