Kelley Missal (One Life to Live) is set as a series regular opposite Steve Zahn and Sandrine Holt in the ABC drama pilot The Crossing. Written/executive produced by Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie, executive produced by Jason Reed and directed by Rob Bowman, The Crossing revolves around refugees from a war-torn country who start showing up to seek asylum in an American town. But the country these people are from is America, and the war they are fleeing is 250 years in the future. Missal will play Hannah, one of the first survivors to make it to the shore. Missal received a Daytime Emmy nom for her work on One Life to Live. She’s repped by CESD and Viking Entertainment.

Good for Kelley. It's always boggled my mind how no soap tried snagging her post OLTL 2.0. when she was the star of that series.

I wish her nothing but success as a primetime actress. She's come a LONG way from the days of being DanYELLa.

Here are some updates on some former cast members of The Doctors:

Marie Thomas Foster (Lauri James) teaches acting and dancing to young people in a company called The Peppermint Players, located in Newark, NJ. Her son went to the Fame school - LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts - and graduated in the same class with another offspring of a soap star...Jennifer Aniston. Here's what Marie looks like today:

Paul Henry Itkin (Dr. Vito McCray, 1972; also of DAYS and EDGE) is also involved with teaching youngsters about the performing arts. He is now a teacher at Hollywood High School in their magnet performing arts program. Last year, he directed their production of Hairspray. Here's what he looks like now, per his LinkedIn page:

Gracie Harrison (Greta Powers, 1980-81) retired from acting in 1995 and returned to her native Kansas City, and is now director of a non-profit organization called Smiles Change Lives. The program helps disadvantaged children get braces who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford them. Gracie and her husband are also rabid fans of the Kansas City Royals. Here's a current picture on the SCL website:

Her successor in the role of Greta Powers, Lori-Nan Engler (1981-82), also moved back to her hometown - Philly. She still acts in community theatre but is primarily a realtor and mom to four children. Here's a photo on her profile for realtor.com:

In what may have been the most surprising change of career, Holly Peters (Nurse Cathy Ryker #3, 1972-73) left acting and became a dentist!! She posted on the FB fan group for the show that after leaving the show in February 1973, she enrolled in college a few months later in September. Then she went to dental school and practiced for 30 years under her birth name, Olga Werchola, before retiring.

Pelphrey looks a lot like Fred Armisen now. He always did, actually.

Nia Long (not a soap star in recent years but always Kat Speakes in my heart) seems to have gotten into some sort of media flap about alleged bad behavior on the set of Empire. I've seen people speculating this will lead to her getting the Monique treatment. I hope not - she's too good for that fate.

Did that Beaches TV movie come out yet? Nia's got a few projects due out this year and she's a series regular in the Netflix Dear White People series.

Lee Daniels productions tend to attract a lot of strife and static. I wonder when/if talent will start to avoid him.

Tom Pelphrey looks like [!@#$%^&*], but that's nothing new.

Not crazy about Mick Hazen's nose either.

Tika Sumpter has been cast as Casey Affleck's wife in some movie I can't bother to look up. Great for her career, sucks it's with him.
