So she was Keith's mother on Six Feet Under. For some reason I don't remember her.

She was Ernie Hudson's wife on St. Elsewhere in one of my favorite "arcs" of that show (the long, moving story about the three firefighters brought to St. Eligius).

I remember her from Lean on Me, where she was Morgan Freeman's sidekick of sorts.

They originally said Tanya Boyd was coming back, but then there was a report that she'd had a stroke, and the show puts out this casting notice. Someone (her rep?) then denied that story and said it was merely a scheduling issue.

I don't watch DOOL but I was secretly hoping for Bern Nadette Stanis. I'm curious to see how she'll play this though so I'll tune it, I've never been able to change the channel when I've landed on Celeste.

This woman seems ordinary. Celeste was blessed with a very exotic almost supernatural look to go along with her character. The actress was striking and really stood out. This person looks like someone you pass in the street 20 times a day.

Tanya Boyd is very ordinary too. The wigs, sexy clothing and makeup helped make her standout. "In character" I see this new actress just being fine

I think Tanya brought a lot of sexuality and personality to the role on her own, more than clothing could.

But I hope Beverly Todd will do OK.

I agree Cheap. she's a seasoned actress and she will just fine. Beverly Todd is here to make Celeste her own not be Tanya.

It's a shame that the timing wasn't right with Tanya Boyd...I have to ask myself WHAT could possibly have prevented her, 3 episodes would have gotten her a year of health insurance!

Beverly Todd will be very good though, she's a terrific actress and is beautiful, they just need to get the costume/wig right for her.

Finally, let me just say that if Nelson Branco reported that Tanya Boyd suffered a stroke and that the story was erroneous I hope he is struck down by God himself, what an unforgivable thing to report without fact checking. She should sue him for libel.
