Members JONNYSBRO
Bad news bad news the chew just hit a series high of almost 2.4 million viewers for their thanksgiving week and series highs across the board. It's now toeing same Amc viewership on 50 percent less budget. Abc has more flow coming in. No matter what we say the bottom line always is most important. Members JaneAusten
To be honest aside from The View and considering this was the most watched week for Nov Sweeps, those overall numbers are not impressive
Members JONNYSBRO
Here is the Chew versus AMC comparison from 2011 to 2010: AMC (Nov. 15-19, 2010) – 2.349 million, 0.566 million in W18-49 demo Chew (Nov. 14-18, 2011) – 2.384 million, 0.521 million in W 18-49 demo OUCH OUCH. The Chew beat AMC's last years numbers in viewers and very close in DEMOS. The Chew isn't the disaster everyone hoped it would be unfortunately. This is on a budget of 50 percent lower. Members JaneAusten
ABC did something very smart. They released The Chew a cooking show for the most part right into the fall and holiday "entertaining" season. And The Revolution right after the first of the year when people tend to be on weightloss kicks. I don't expect either show to do great or even last but the timing was well planned. Members TeamEric
Sadly, I agree, they timed these programs well. My hope is by February sweeps, these two programs are crashing and bleeding viewers badly.
Members JONNYSBRO
I dont see the Revolution doing as well as the Chew. The Chew is an easy show to watch in and out. You dont have to watch every segment and u can keep it on and just kind of watch the show in and out. Very easy to follow. The Revolution looks dull and boring and requires more viewing. I dont see it taking off that well.
Members DRW50
And constant promos on ABC. From the episodes I watched there was nothing helpful for holidays or entertaining. I think it's just an easy program for someone to leave on in the background. Everything was so loud and they were giving out so many mixed messages. It's not that hard to match what a dying soap does. It's the same reason The Talk got around what ATWT got, even though The Talk is and was incoherent. Administrator Toups Posted November 28, 2011 Author Administrator Share Posted November 28, 2011 Alright, this is going to be the last week for discussion on the Chew in this thread. After that, you can go to the Chew discussion thread in the OT forum if you want to talk about their ratings.
Members DaytimeFan
Really, this isn't a good week for DAYS. The ratings are still dismal.
Members marceline
Exactly. I expect The Chew to keep climbing then level off. People are cooking now and once they're done with the Thanksgiving turkey and the Christmas ham, they'll be cooking blackeye peas for New Year's, romantic dinners for Valentine's day, corned beef/cabbage/soda bread for St. Pat's day...etc...
