Days: End of Nov Spoilers

Today i was visiting a friend at the supermarket. We were in the back when i spotted the soptted the soap mags so i flipped through them and man, oh man!...

Johnny goes missing and Bo/Hope find the body if a boy. It is reported by the news to be Johnny and Sami and EJ are together when they see it. She has pulled away from Rafe and blames him because she didnt want to go see John out of fear of something like that. Well, Sami and EJ start fighting, beat eachother up, then end up sleeping together. Sweeney is very good when talking about it, oretty much says this isnt romantic, and sami is doing it to feel anything but the pain. She wants to be numb. The writers state the same thing. Well... ya know that scene where Sami walks in on marlena and john? Will walks in on this and he goes off. The new writers say that Will essentally becomes to Sami what Sami was to Marlena and there is some shocking stuff coming up with him. They also state he is still going to be gay and he will be coming out sooner rather than later (I think in feb actually, but i think he tells some others before)

Bo/Hope relive losing Zach through this and talk about their issues. Marlena feels gulty because Sami didnt want to come and she pressured her into bringing the kids. EJ feels guilty because he set John up. No word on what actually has happened with Johnny tho.

Honestly, this sounds interesting and the scenes looked good in the promo. I will give this a shot. I like that they are honoring that moment that Sami saw john/mar now.

Just to be clear, they do NOT compare sami/ej to john/mar, just the situation of having an affair/sleeping together and a child walking in. its really worth a read if you can.

This sounds great, in description. I do feel that these writers are aiming for something specific -- and maybe now that the really heavyhanded, kinda slow setup is over, we'll be getting to that. I've been pleasantly surprised by both the Jack/Jen scenes (which I feared would be them reverting to the played-out dynamic from JER 2.0) and the EJ/Nicole fallout (which I was worried would be a giant pointless retread, but instead, it's giving Nicole a voice).

The biggest difference is that Sami had the idea that her mother was a saint, and she idealized Roman and Marlena. Will doesn't feel that way about Sami, and Sami/Lucas have been split up for years. I'm not sure why this would have the same effect on him.

I think people are taking it too literall.

It is a similar situation, with very different details.

Will hates EJ and would be pissed about this. He loved rafe and knows he is good for Sami. He has seen all this bull [!@#$%^&*] he has put her through over the years and played a pretty big role in her shooting him last year. I totally think he would blow up. Will eh may not have a sainted view of his mother he had bought into her i have changed act of recent years. I also feel like a lot of pent up issues he has with her from his entire life may come out.

So Sami and EJ deal with their son being missing by having sex? That's beyond gross and it looks like I am done with Days for good. I was watching for a while when the reboot started but I got behind and was planning to catch up. Looks like now I don't have to. Hopefully, this sinks Days ratings even lower.

This sounds horrible. Let me see, Sami, EJ, Nicole, some Sami child in peril..when have I seen this crap before? Oh yeah, five minutes ago. And for this they needed to switch writers why again? And lets see if we can figure this out: One day down the road Sami will discover EJ set the whole thing in motion and yell a lot, and everyone will be mad at EJ and Stefano will disown him and say his only son is Chad, and maybe for a twist EJ can lose all access to his kids and Nicole will be there too saying she loves Johnny like he was her own.

And people resent John and Marlena for being a retread?

They actually think he's dead. Alison Sweeny actually had to reconcile the idea with having sex while thinking your child is dead with her own thoughts as a parent, she said it's the hardest thing she's ever had to do.

Sooooo tired of grief sex. But the fallout could be interesting.

Honestly, if you can - even if you are interested in this, in fact esp if you are against this - read the interview/tease/set up in SOD.

Sweeney delivered in that interview. be it spin, her honest view point, or whatever. It is a facinating read, esp when as Khan Darn said, she talks about how hard it was go from that place of losing a child and turning it into a sex scene. And the way she describes the final fight with Sami & Rafe sounds like it has some power behind it.

It also slightly teases Will after it and Bo/Hope dealing with Zach.

    • The timing is strange, though. How far in advance would they normally be on location? The Achille Lauro hijacking was on October 7, 1985. Nancy had arrived in Egypt in the storyline by October 18. But the character of Hawk, Chris' Native American friend from Arizona, had already appeared onscreen by September and brought a letter telling Chris to be in Egypt by October 25th.  Why did they already have the link to Arizona before the reason to cancel the shoot in Egypt?  The dust and the jar it came in were from Egypt though. Nancy bought it there and sent it to Mac as a gift before she came back to the states and followed Chris to Arizona.
    • Actually that is not what happened. Nor is the timing right for it to have been. We learned from a WOST interview with Pete Lemay  in 2006, which can be found on YT, that it was Fred Silverman's idea to do the 90 minute show. I don't know how much you know about him but he had these amazing successes as head of daytime at both ABC & at CBS. Then he came to NBC where basically everything he touched turned NOT TO GOLD but to shite. Some of the most expensive shows ever produced up to that time were huge flops. Although even he, like a broken clock, could be right on occasion. However, as we know, he was not right about the 90 minute show. As a matter of fact, afterward,  NBC programmers, who worked FOR him, were asked why they did it & they were quoted as saying it was because they couldn't think of anything else to try. It was a stupid idea from a man who had reached the point where he was throwing anything at the wall to see if it would stick.

    • I stopped watching Another World in 1990. Simply, lost interest in the show.  I had watched the show from 1973 to 1990. The 90 minute show started the decline of AW.  NBC panicked with expanding AW due to the GH hoopla. As mentioned above, 1982 was a trainwreck for AW.  The introduction of the Shea family, the movie storyline involving Jamie, and Steve Frame favoring Rachel over Alice. The writers went into that direction due to the forgettable performance of Linda Borgeson.

    • Ive seen that theory thrown out but the one thing against it is that Leslie and her family lived in Chicago. She only came back to DC last year after her husband died. Unless they say Alan made a trip to DC and died while away, she wouldnt know about that. However I do think the angle of her finding out that Martin was involved could work as that gives her leverage against Bill too for covering it up. She'd want to get revenge on him by threatening to have him disbarred
    • What a good write-up @Errol! Nice seeing the nod to Duplaix's lead.
    • The Egypt location shoot was cancelled because of the Achille Lauro cruise ship hijacking
