Digest has learned that Shelly Altman has been named co-Head Writer of GENERAL HOSPITAL, effective immediately. She will work alongside current Head Writer Garin Wolf. Hopefully this cuts back on the misogyny, but I won't count on it, cause Frons still has his fat nose in stuff

I've never been so bored with a soap as I have with GH written by Wolfe these months. I'd welcome a monkey Co-Headwriter at this point.

One would think so. However, the Executive Producer of this show is a woman and we've all seen the misogyny under her leadership. I wouldn't count on any significant changes with this co-headwriter. If ABC was truly interested in saving GH, they would fire Jill Faren Phelps and I don't see that happening.

Same here Marls.

I wonder if someone in charge freaked seeing ratings still sucked even with GW writing, the effective immediately for Altman makes one wonder LOL

It is just so strange how Guza had abysmal ratings with a steady decline for ten years and no one cared, this guy has been at it 3 months and already he is halfway out the door.

according to wiki she held this position

Another World

  • Associate Head Writer: 1995 - 1999

so, does that bode well for GH? Anyone remember AW from this time?

THat was the era when AW was under JFP wasn't it and she killed it for good I think.

The thing is Karen HArris, Michelle Van Jean were both HW;s at one point. I really don't get why GW or why not promote MVP to co HW.

I LOVED AW during that time...I believe that was the era of Lorna Devon and Cindy Harrison,I believe. Two of my favorite characters.

I am loving GH under Garin right now, maybe it'll get even better with Shelly by his side icon1.gif It's nice we'll have a man & woman head writing GH in particular.

JFP drained any personality out of Lorna and turned her into a receptacle for FOJ John Bolger. It was good, in the long run, for Robin Christopher's bank account, but not great for the character.

I hadn't heard Shelly Altman's name in a long time. What was her last soap credit? Maybe I just wasn't looking for her.

AW was all over the place in its last years. I can't say she did anything to bring it stability.

JFP needs to go, but then, even if she does, Frons is still there.

Its just JFP giving another of her best buddies a job. Now that Guza is gone she is back to her old self.

Just in case anyone didn't know, she is already on the GH team right now as a breakdown writer (since August after she left OLTL). She's just been promoted to Co-HW it looks like.

I'm still looking forward to this. The last time GH had a female headwriter was the best the shows ever been.
