No, Sonny would never hit a woman...but he would shoot her in the head. (Hey, Carly! What's good?)

Sonny shooting Carly in the head is one of the strangest Guza choices ever. I think Pratt was involved too. Whenever it is (rarely) brought up I love the way the show somehow explains it away. It still makes me chuckle.

Anyhow, I think Kristina actually getting abused by Kiefer led to her realizing Sonny wasn't that bad. They reconciled after the whole ordeal.

Didn't they bring back Kiefer's sister years later? She was out to get Alexis through Pilates or something and then died?

Lol! I swear they brought Keifer sister back maybe 10 years after Kiefer died and she was Alexis's fitness trainer with a revenge plot. I don't think the plot lasted more than a few months. Let me see if I can google her name. I want to say it was a K name too.

ETA-Kendra. It was in late 2019. She tried poisoning Alexis with protein powder then kidnapped her and tried to run her over with her car. Lucas then accidently killed Kendra by running into her car before she could kill Alexis.-

That's from GH wiki. I remember vague details, but the entire plot sounds like a fever dream when I read it.

No wonder I barely watched in those years.

I just remember "Kiefer Bauer" being the nadir of Guza's fascination with macho primetime TV - he or someone clearly named the guy after Kiefer Sutherland and his character from 24 (Jack Bauer). Like, c'mon.

I think the whole Kendra thing was tied to Shiloh and Dawn of the Day because everything on the show was back then lol.

I remember the name Kiefer Bauer and eyerolled that. The abuse story was a pretty good idea in theory, but it had major flaws. It was way too violent, showing a bloodied and beaten Lexi Ainsworth getting knocked around by a huge man that looked 10 years older than her. Then it made Kristina look bad because she became a liar and accused Ethan to protect Kiefer. And in end it became about Sonny and Luke's pain over the whole situation because Sonny saw his mom get beat up and Sonny might have to kill Ethan lol. That would totally ruin Luke/Sonny's bromance.

Then in conclusion Alexis's notoriously bad driving skills were on display when she ran Kiefer over.

That's a role for Holly Gagnier (just make her a Pilates aunt).

So much of that period of the show, which I did not really see, seems like another world when I read back. I had no idea Alexis dated her therapist for a year and then he was found dead in bed.

GH seems to have a strong relationship with Gagnier, who has apparently coached or trained a lot of their current young stars; her name keeps popping up. And of course she did Frank a solid by replacing Sherilyn Fenn who backed out as Jennifer Smith at the last minute in 2015. I guess she and Frank go way back to the Rauch years. Good for her.

I agree on that period. I pretty much tuned out a ton of 2016-2022/23 or so, and while I watched certain bits and pieces or storylines here and there, there's so much particularly from those Passanante/Altman dregs years that is unthinkable to me. I forgot about James DePaiva playing a pervy doctor who preyed on Kiki, after NLG supposedly rebuffed a pairing with his recurring player. And then there's the long period where both the intolerable Gladys and Willow's insanely creepy cult mom (Harmony) just... hung around?

It felt like the show kept forgetting to give NLG a story a suddenly threw something together every year. The Kiefer sister story was full of holes because even Kristina didn't recognize her. Alexis has honestly been an afterthought for years. She appears but rarely does much to this day.

The Gladys/Harmony period was probably the most difficult era to endure. Everything about Gladys and Bonnie Borroughs portrayal was like nails on a chalkboard to me. For whatever reason, she is probably my most hated character on GH in the last decade or two and she lingered on. She lasted at least a year too long (if she ever needed to exist) and still got away with stealing all Sasha's money.

True. The closest she came recently was, again, the Mulcahey interrupt lol. He clearly loved NLG, wanted Alexis back practicing law and tried to bring on Lane Davies from their shared work at Santa Barbara (someone involved claimed they were not allowed to improv last year lol, I assume that was a production thing). It didn't go anywhere, but it was worth a thought. I would've watched them together again minus how shitty Cameron Lewis treated her.

I do think Alexis is somewhat spent but I wouldn't get rid of her. Nancy always works hard and is compelling enough. I'd probably put her with a woman at this point lol.

I am glad Alexis is practicing law again so there's that. I don't even mind Alexis in the capacity she is used in now. It just seems like a waste of talent to let Alexis mostly be stuck reacting to everyone else without her own story.

Hilariously, I low key thought the show was possibly going to pair Alexis with the above-mentioned Harmony for a minute.

I heard that from a few people lol. I was dreading it. Let's not put Alexis with the Manson Girls, even at her lowest lows.

I frankly don't think Alexis needs huge story at this point tbqh. But I would give her something decent. I think it's a real error they didn't go full throttle on an Alexis/Jason custody battle over Danny.

Oh, believe me, I wasn't advocating it. It was a vibe I was getting at the time. It would have been pairing Rory's Michael with Jacinda level wasteful.

I can't even remember the last Alexis story I enjoyed. Maybe her alcoholism story when she drunkenly slept with Ned? Mostly because I liked Ned/Alexis. I know, I know. Olivia and Ned serve their purpose nicely, but I find them boring.

I was for them hooking up again, but not getting serious. They didn't do enough with that though. I am fine with Ned and Olivia staying as they are unless an interesting opportunity for her presents itself. Scorpio is sadly off the table.

I would bring on either Serena or Zoe Ward (or Richardson, whatever they called her offscreen) for Michael, or someone entirely new and interesting. Or several people lol. But they don't conceptualize and create new contract characters anymore on this show. They just seem to hire people they like lol. Even Gio was a example of liking Mazza from some other audition IIRC. That's fine from time to time, but it's not viable for a whole ensemble.

Tbf, it was really Julian who killed Kendra indirectly, as he'd sabotaged Brad's car in the hopes of preventing him from telling all about Wiley being Michael and Nelle's kid but didn't count on Lucas driving the car and crashing it.

yes Kendra was a Dawn of Day cult member.

One of the initiation rites for Dawn of Day was for inductees to confess a secret they'd never told anyone (and thus be open to blackmail if they tried to leave the cult presumably). Kristina apparently had no secrets at the time so she lied and made up that Alexis had hit Kiefer on purpose. Shiloh told Kendra this offscreen and that's what led to Kendra coming after Alexis.

Me too, and I'm somebody here actually suggested the same thing at the time.

I never really thought Gagnier was a very good actress (although I haven't seen her best-received soap role [Ivy on DAYS]), but I'm glad to hear she's there for the younger cast, who are mostly doing a good job.

I didn't know JDP was on GH. Or I forgot. It might have been interesting seeing him paired with NLG, but I can't blame anyone who is wary of a recurring romance (look how much good it's done for Genie Francis).

I see that Priscilla Garita was a temp Harmony. She had a lot of presence on SuBe - didn't think at the time so much of her daytime work after that would be temp roles. Still, it's a job. The temp recasts may be the most interesting part of Frank's GH run for me.

I think NLG and Lane said that themselves in an interview. I'm glad Mulcahey at least had the power to briefly reunite them onscreen - sorry (if not surprised) it didn't go anywhere.

I've seen a number of fans asking why the show isn't letting Alexis get her Natasha on with Drew. I guess she isn't an important enough character to TPTB for that to happen. I hope she might get her lick back someday with him. I've found the scenes where Alexis tries to help her grandkids (especially poor Scout, who is currently living the life Little Orphan Annie lived every time Daddy Warbucks was lost at sea or presumed dead) moving in large part due to NLG. I sometimes wonder if Alexis compares their situation to hers - helpless children being crushed by an abusive patriarch.

It was your posts about Gladys when I started to get back into GH (as much as I ever have) that are still just about all I know of the character. They were very entertaining.

Didn't the strike writers get rid of her?
