That would have meant perpetuating the same vile garbage that has represented every Todd story over the last 2-3 years.

I'm really trying to work on my cynicism, but I mean... WHY? WHY? WHY? would Irene do this?? How did she become some weirdo syfy mastermind? Did Victor have THAT much of an affect on her? So bizarre.

I don't know the name of the actress in these clips but it seems like yet another OLTL role Christine Jones could have added to her resume. During the DID s/l, Viki would have her weird incest dreams and Krista Tesreau Tina in mod clothes would appear as Irene in them.

and what makes you think Todd is automatically immune from that now? Just bc they are bringing Irene back and creating some convoluted clusterf--k to explain all of this away? Ron is creating a bigger mess with all of this than had he just gone the straight and simple recast route (or is that oldcast?)

Yeah this may be as messed up as anything they ever did but the comic book continuity geek in me kind of enjoys this. BTW The Spider-Man clone saga that The "Two Todds" reminds me of also ended with bringing someone back who was dead for about 25-30 years.

Todd will always have bad writing - I can live with that. It's one of the reasons I've never been interested in the character. I just couldn't live with Todd as the "hero" in a redeemed-by-rape story, Todd the stud with various women falling at his feet, and the bizarre need to turn the emotional and physical abuse of Todd/Tea into some love story. Irene returning bothers me less than air quotes or the disastrous decision to bring back Powell/Zach/crazy Rebecca because RC needed to remind us Todd wasn't the "only rapist."

and now we'll learn that he is a rapist and SOB bc his evil mama manipulated his life and screwed him over. This is downright awful, no matter how you slice it

Didn't David know Irene briefly before she "died", or did he get his hands on the diary through other means? I don't recall. The only thing I'm looking forward to here is if they cast a powerhouse actress who gets some good scenes opposite Erika.

David never knew Irene, but I believe Tina gave him the stuff to pretend to be the long lost Lord so they could have the inheritance

Is it worse to say, "He's a rapist and SOB because of a bad past" or, "He's a rapist and SOB because that's hot and that's what real men do"?

Eh, I ain't bothered. From the start this was going to be a batshit story. It needed a big, shocking villain with roots in history - why not Irene, who was not exactly some saintly character with years of history? We accepted the DID retcon with Victor Lord because it made perfect sense, even though Victor had years on the show as a loving patriarch (with an imperious and quasi-incestuous side, which is what made the 1995 story palatable IMO). We know far less about Irene. It could be fun.

I forgot to say that I don't mean to downplay how stupid this story is, or probably will be. I don't think it will be as bad as Heart of a Lord, because what could be, but this seems like a bad idea, especially with TSJ on a limited timeframe. The main thing I want to see is a lot of material for Viki and Tina. If they are in this heavily and if they do cast someone like Liz Hubbard (although I don't know if she can pass as Viki's college roommate - Erika and Liz are about 20 years apart, I believe...), then I will enjoy more.

13 years apart, apparently. That's not as bad.

It's also very believable to me that Victor could've become involved with Irene as part of his own roots in military intelligence. Remember Tomas saying the CIA recruited him out of Julliard? The OSS and CIA used to do that with students all the time. Irene was Viki's college roommate.

It's an apeshit story but it's already far better to me than, say, Heart of a Lord. Apeshit works if you tell it well.

ANOTHER dead character in this story? I don't know, that's kinda sick lol. I do like the idea of Liz Hubbard returning to OLTL if thats true, but this is still odd. They could've easily just made Mitch behind it.

    • Yeah. I wasn't feeling it either. If it was meant to be a chem test, it didn't work. I don't think so. Because I think Neil and Liz moved into that house after Stefano "died", and Neil lived there until he went to go see his patients and never came back

    • Canada aired a repeat today Tues. Nov. 18. So after being a day ahead for the past week, they will now be back in sync with U.S.
    • I was really starting to enjoy it, but after Anspach, Shelton and Keane left, it got a bit blah to watch. Jane Russell was great as Rose, Buddy Ebsen as Toat was interesting as well.  If a second season were in the cards, I would have signed  Karen Carlson on to a contract and cast a couple more women as regulars. The cowboy aspect could continue. Sam Elliott, as always, was fantastic,  The camaraderie between Roy and Quisto was really good as well. Cybill... she was sex on a stick and unapologetic.   Poor Robin Wright barely lasted five minutes, though, before being raped and murdered.
    • I love it that we've gone from daylight to dark -- Luna's even returned to work -- but Steffy is still sitting next to shirtless Finn on the sofa.

    • Is the current DiMera mansion the same mansion Stefano moved into around 1983?  I remember that house was out near a lake, and not far from Doug Williams' night club.  In fact, there was a tunnel connecting Doug's Place to the DiMera mansion.  If it supposed to be the same house, I'm fairly sure it is not the same set.  But I'm aware sometimes soap opera sets change without any explanation
    • Amazing work @slick jones I remember watching and enjoying Yellow Rose but losing interest once they went to self contained episodes, Interestingly that's the opposite of what Dallas, KL and FC did. So maybe YR should have been more episodic at first and then go to a fully fledged serial. But really the timeslot was the problem -Sat @10 was not the spot for a serial. And Rounders turned out to be a poor lead in. Maybe 9-11 Tues following A Team would have helped.
    • LOL!!! He looks like he is reacting as if Luna just passed bad gas or something.
    • Doug Marland came on board shortly before Gloria Monty, I believe. Jackie Smith was in charge of ABC daytime at that point. All of the characters in place were not his creations. Alan was created by Irving and Tex Ellman who wrote the hurricane story a few months before and brought in Alan, Scotty, David Hamilton, Dorrie and Lisa/Lana. His first character was  Bobbie in Jan 78. Apart from wrapping up the Lan/Lisa story he pretty much kept all the stories going just adding new elements.
    • She is 29... she's inching closer, and we know how important age is on soaps.

    • When I saw that look on Will's face, I thought, "Yeah, there's no one on set giving direction to Crew Morrow. There's no one giving notes." His dad Josh was green when he started, but not this green.
