Members JaneAusten
I think people are reading too much into this. Regardless of all the rah rah people online are giving PP its still a very risky venture but whether AMC goes on or not the end of an era will be over. Whether Erica Kane goes to live on or not, nothing changes that. And I have mixed feelings. I love Susan and Erica and what shes done for this genre and want her to continue but the other part of me is a tad angry that PP might just shelve AMC if she doesnt join. Members Kylie
If PP cans AMC "because" there's no Erica Kane, this show is in bigger trouble than people want to admit.
Members marceline
I'm still sitting over here on "It's a negotiation tactic" island. I find it hard to believe (although sadly not impossible) that after all the time, effort and money PP has invested buying the licensing rights, brokering with the unions, etc... PP would just write off all of that, Lucci or no Lucci, especially if the rumor is true that they were looking into developing a new soap before these shows got canceled. Of course maybe this is ABC getting even with her for what she wrote in her book they way some people think. Stranger things have happened and Lord knows there are plenty of instances of ABCD taking the low road when crossed. I hate seeing the people online jumping all over her since. It's like someone is playing the "Do what we say or we'll kill this puppy!" game. People are looking as Susan saying "Are you really going to let them kill the PUPPY?!" instead of wondering about the people holding the puppy hostage. Members JaneAusten
OH I believe its all negotiation but the one part thats disconcerting is while Lucci has allegedly been approached, per Walt Willey's tweet if we are to believe him none of the other actors have. I realize PP has more control over the OLTL situation and there is movement there, but if they are serious about AMC why the stall in dealing with the other talent unless they believe without Susan they have some major retooling to do. Or maybe who knows what they pay her might have an impact on what they will be offering others.
Members SFK
Jane, to riff off your point of PP seeming to have more control of the OLTL situation, I'm curious to hear what "focus group" PP thinks of each show as they stand. i.e., what characters and storylines they absolutely loved, what fat they immediately recognized for trimming. We're still in conjecture land, so for all we know, PP may have a fresher vision for AMC, and while it includes icon Susan Lucci from the jump, may involve some major cast changes. Perhaps they are more satisfied with what OLTL already has in place hence those offers already being made public. They may not be so clear on what they want their AMC to look like, they just know they needed to start with Miss Lucci.

Members JaneAusten
Thats a valid point they already know key players like Jacob Young and Debbi Morgan will be gone and up and comers like Shannon Kane, Cornellius Smith, and Chrishell are gone too. So one of the shows key families actually 2, the Hubbards and Chandlers gone.
Members dragonflies
http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2011/09/09/one-life-to-live-all-my-children-fans-how-much-would-you-pay-to-watch-the-shows-online/103161/ Prospect Park is moving ahead with its efforts to produce the now cancelled by ABC soap operas One Life To Live and All My Children, having signed four of the current cast members of OLTL onto the new production in the past week. Prospect Park is still trying to line up a cable network for telecast of the shows, which I would guess is critical to their long term future, but intends to put both shows online sometime after One Life To Live's January, 2012 broadcast TV finale. That brings up an interesting question for One Life To Live and All My Children fans. How much will you be willing to pay to watch the shows online? What, you thought they'd be free to watch online? Perhaps just supported by online advertising (ala, Hulu)? There's virtually no chance that producing a soap opera anything like what was on broadcast, even at reduced budget levels, can be sustained by online advertising. Anyone who imagines that should send me some of what they're smoking. My guess is that's a big point of discussion with any potential cable network. While I wouldn't be surprised if the production doesn't move ahead until a cable network signs on, let's assume that Prospect Park intends to put the shows online whether or not they get a cable network. How much would you pay to watch those shows online? They have a poll to vote in at the link
Members Marco Dane
Can’t say I’m too shocked at the poll results… You have fans out there who were outraged when ABC decided to cancel AMC and OLTL. They talked about how legendary and historic these shows were, and they were pissed enough to start boycotting, protesting, writing letters, and getting angry all over message boards on the internet. Now I look at the poll, nearly 60% of the people who voted say they won’t pay at all.
Members dragonflies
I'm not surprised at all and I completely agree! Be careful what you wish for comes to mind. There are people who just aren't going to be able to afford to pay, even a minimal amount
Members marceline
I'm not even getting into the "How much will you pay?" BS for a show that A.) doesn't exist yet, B.) I have no idea when or where I would be able to watch or what format it will take (Daily? Seasonal?), C.) I have no idea who will be starring in it and D.) I have no idea what the stories will be. What is this? Storage Wars?
Members LeClerc
From the new SOD: After the last scene was shot and the cast photo was taken Agnes Nixon gave a speech in which she honored dearly-departed cast members like Eileen Herlie and James Mitchell and told the story of how she came up with the idea for AMC. At the end of the speech she said "That's a wrap, Pine Valley" and then she put her head in her hands and started to cry. (Quoting Alicia Minshew: "Then I started to cry. Then I looked around and realized everybody was crying"). The only person who didn't cry was Susan Lucci, who Minshew says was a rock for everyone. Members EricMontreal22
Exactly, it just adds to all this insane guessing game. And that Mental Floss article was posted here four days or so back by Dragonflies--I don't think anyone but four people read it, but it's a great read.
