I am not quite sure how to answer that. If by B storyline male you mean any male who isn't Eric or Ridge, then, yeah. (Back in the day I heard it described as the "Non-Forrester Male Syndrome", meaning all men who weren't Forresters tended to get backburnered and/or eventually written out.) As for insufferable, I'd say the "A storyline males" are often worse in that regard.

True - for the most part, the men on B&B tend to be supporting characters in the women's storylines. But it's the women who have most of the agency and whose point of view is usually explored. I still think there have been a fair amount of interesting male characters (and Clarke is definitely one of them) but they are rarely as "deep" or layered as the women and often fill a single plot function whereas the women are a lot more well-developed.

I enjoyed reading your thoughts tremendously. Thank you for taking the time to post it.

I find the "palindrome" point particularly fascinating. Wonder if that was deliberate. I tend to think they might have had a 2-year plan for Anthony - but the palindrome just happened.

Yes, I am not saying all of this was intentional - some of it may have been a consequence of simply the character being kept consistent enough that he had certain behaviors that he displayed more than once. And it's also possible that certain events that were not meant as foreshadowing at the time were remembered in later storylines and retroactively became foreshadowing. Nevertheless, it's pretty neat the way it turned out. At first I thought I might just be inventing patterns that weren't there, but then when very specific and fairly unusual plot points like "feigning grief as a morbid kind of flirting" or "scheming to see the girl naked by manipulating one's own design" happened twice, it did feel like a conscious choice (after all, this kind of foreshadowing/reintegration of past plot elements is very common in fiction). And of course the "bookend" symmetry between Anthony's first scenes and his last must have been deliberate as he even reminisced about the former during the latter.

I just looked at the May 2005 uncut episodes and compared them to the transcripts on TV megasite. I trimmed off some of Part 4 because it jumped from the May 24 episode to clips from April 13, 15, and 18 (Thomas and Gaby scenes only). So I cut out those April 13 scenes and uploaded as a partial episode (you uploaded April 15 and 18 already). Just FYI.

Considering the actor had finished up a 3 year stint playing the dark Lawerence on Days right before joining BB...there was some talk whether he was another Lawrence or a nice character.

In fact, critics in 1994 thought he was wasted because there seemed to be no direction with the character.  However I do agree that he was a dark character pretending not to be.  Leading Sally on then going to Macy when she's single thus causing mother/daughter angst.

Meanwhile, Ivana was moved out of the Dylan/Jessica orbit and paired with a newly single Thorne.  So maybe 1994 was a set up year for this tale to climax in 1995.

    • Where do you discover this crazy rumor??
    • Jill Farren Phelps was always very skilled at saying what she meant onscreen in the bluntest way possible, like whenever she wanted fans to support one character vs. the other (hence Megan McTavish groaning about having to write Kale Browne's Sam Rappaport into three days a week at OLTL). Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Historically your intent is always far more obvious than your efforts at coy embroidery anyway. You believe people are dismissing Phelps' accomplishments, and suggest misogyny and fan blinders allow people to too easily pigeonhole and dismiss her skill set. I think we all understand her varied skill set. We're saying it's not enough to make up for her deficiencies as a storyteller and creative. JFP was undoubtedly a skilled technical producer. As a solo storyteller, and de facto HW, she was a repeat and predictable failure. She was not the first or last EP (male or female) to think she was a writer. If you want us to stop taking your behavior personally when you suggest misogyny is at play in board opinions of JFP, perhaps you should consider spending the next 10+ years here not acting like you're the only one who gets it.

Melissa was here today & we went to Michael's Crafts & Ofc Depot. In Michael's there were two beautiful LITTLE girls who kept staring at me, so I gave them a littel wave & very quietly said HI & then did back. I told Melissa they were staring at me. She smiled & said "Purple. A lot of little girls love purple & you forget but you have purple hair. Seeing you their whole imaginations are transformed! Thinking "That lady has purple hair. That means I can have purple hair! They had no clue before seeing you that it was possible." I just laughed & laughed.
    • This opening scene is hilarious...it's like someone wrote out the script for Philip with one hand. And Rick...sniffing a scarf over and over. And in their next scene they are still sniffing the [!@#$%^&*] scarf as the camera stays all over Philip's bare chest and armpits as he keeps working out. Insane stuff.

Bay City better be ready, because I'm back!   At Vicky's apartment she is once again drowning in doubts and jealousy. Deep down she realizes that her dream wedding will be a farce and nothing can change that. Bridget tries to calm her down, but the heroine is determined to suffer. She is not hearing any positive thoughts. She doesn't believe Jamie will marry her. At the Cory Publishing building another farce is in process. Iris, once again pretending to be the angel of love and sisterhood... is telling Mac and Rachel some wonderful news. When Iris has good news, you really need to look out for yourself. That's when things are bad. So what are the news? Miss Devil has put Amanda up for an award! Mac is smiling from ear to ear, and Rachel is suspicious. Maybe that's the effect Iris is looking for. To once again accent on the fact that Rachel doubts and criticizes her daughter. Iris will do anything to destabilize their relationship. She is like a cancer. Back to Vicky! Jamie is at the door. Looking like a sad puppy, he has come with a surprise. No, he is not gonna leave her and her unborn... Not yet. He has bought her earrings. Sad face. How nice. NOT. Victoria, of course... manages to break one of them the moment she touches it. Bad premonition maybe? She was back in hysterics. It's not easy to trap a man into marriage. Then you have to live with someone that didn't want you in the first place.  We were introduced to a new character (to me at least she is new) - Cass's sister - Stacey. She is giving me "hidden skeletons in the closet"-vibes. Love a girl like that. Stunning actress. I like her. The highlight of the episode was the strange and creepy reveal of Evan the escort... hugging someone named Janice's grave. I remember she had an issue with Rachel... and Rachel killed her in self defense I think... It was hinted in prior episodes, but I lack the context and story. I just know that everyone at the Frame house was mad that Rachel killed the bish. But I also got the impression that this Janice was sick in the head. So Evan is now talking to her grave and telling her he is going to ruin Rachel's life basically. Oh, Evan... I liked you better as a sexy gigolo.  Overall - 10/10 - how can I rate it lower when I haven't watched in months!!!

    • Once again, Marlena and Kayla were used very effectively and I couldn’t be happier.  Marlena counseling Johnny and then Chanel was the best part of today. They’re really delving into the human emotion of this storyline and I think that’s a good thing. It feels so much mature than it was before. EJ’s fear about what could happen to Johnny if he doesn’t let go of his anger could lead to some really good storylines in the future.  I also really appreciate the way that Paula/Jeanne are mixing it up and having different characters interact with each other. It was nice to see Shawn and Johnny remember that they’re cousins and share a scene together. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them, and what’s going on with their fathers. I did have mixed feelings about everything with Cat though. I enjoyed Chanel warning her about EJ, mostly because it played into the way that she was written today. But I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Chad/EJ scenes. The two of them discussing Chad’s potential feelings for Cat didn’t really keep my interest.  But above all, I feel that everyone is being used more effectively and that we’re getting a better understanding of everyone as well. And that was exactly what Days needed.
    • It's a wild story for sure, especially the final conclusion (and fireworks offcamera, like Victoria Wyndham tearing into Michael Logan).
