Remember when the P&G soaps were being cancelled, the ABC soaps fans lectured the P&G soaps fans that because ABC owned their soaps, they wouldn't dream of cancelling them. It turns out they were wrong. Where are they now?

Thanks for the info

But all this talks about is the 25-54 category. CBS didnt give a damn about this. I never heard them mention that during the press release when the soaps were still on.

I think there were rumors for so many years of failed pilots that after a while it was at a point where if it hadn't happened yet (the cancelations) it wasn't going to happen. I think there was also expectation for one to go, not both, although in the last few weeks before the news I felt more and more that both were going.

I feel sorry for the people at GH - it must be hard going into work knowing that your show is ending and you are just waiting and waiting for the announcement.

I know how ridiculous it sounds, as they at least have employment for another year or possibly two, more than AMC or OLTL, and in this economy that's more than most, but I keep thinking about what Kim Zimmer used to say, that working on shows which are waiting to die is pretty much hell.

Thanks for finding The Talk ratings.

I think Disney is still moving towards unloading the entire ABC-TV network. Right now, the price is too high (due to "star" talent and lavish primetime production costs) for what they're selling. Their entire Fall line-up, from Daytime to Primetime, should fix that problem IMO.

I don't understand why Frons didn't just let Carlivati go. Pay him off once he's finished at OLTL in November. When a pro sports team has an expensive player they want to get rid of but can't because there's a multi-year contract involved, the player is placed on waivers for a short period. If another team wants him, they just have to match the total price and they get him and his contract. If another soap ended up paying his salary and remaining contract, that would be a good thing for ABCD's bottom line, no? What money is saved by keeping an expensive HW (whose show was just cancelled) as a very expensive scriptwriter for another show that's most likely also going to be cancelled?

Seriously. Anyone who chooses to take a wait and see attitude deserves to have the rug pulled out from under them. I'd even ask to leave early if I had enough money saved or something else became available. It's going to be a depressing place to be once new lows become the norm.

There is a very strong rumor that ABC plans to turn all the daytime slots back to the affiliates starting 2014 and are giving the affiliates an opt

out in 2013 if The Chew or The Revolution don't work out to pick up other shows from "their" syndication pool which by the way will not include any

of the 3 soaps. Sweeney has allegedly greenlit development money for "daytime" or whatever it will be called to develop more shows for their syndication pool.

DAytime is the first step in ABC's transition of the network. 2012 is supposed to start major changes in primetime.

I think most are realists and know the end is coming and are looking elsewhere for opportunity. But most I would expect are still under contract so they can't just up and leave.

its not that easy to find steady work in this economy especially for the actors over 30. Riding GH out to the end is the best and only option for most of them as they are lucky to even have employment.

Yep this too. Those on contract are stuck for the time being unless they ask out and again thats pretty risky.

    • Now coming into June...well...   I knew it was coming but I didn't like the start to the next round of Dani/Bill/Hayley. As the 3 A plots from the start of the show (The SilkPress storyline and Martin's Secret being the other two), it needed to be benched for a while to develop those characters and allow other characters and storylines to grow. 3 months in, Hayley is the weak link, Dani is still divisive, but not boring, and Bill has been making his mark with some plots faster than others. So last week seeing the story starting to loop back around to them with Hayley's potential pregnancy, I honestly had mixed feelings.   I get it. The SilkPress storyline is currently in aftermath/next turn mode, so it has to be moved into a C plot position. Moreso if we want to keep the very talented Miss Trish around. And I love how clever the writers are being with the storyline. They give us enough in the episodes and are still playing out beats to keep the appetite fed. I don't feel like anyone is being dumbed down to keep her around. And Trish is giving nuances in her alone scenes with NuTed. I shouldn't care for a clear psycho, but she be selling it. That said...I wish they had given us a little more of the Martin's Secret storyline in the last week of the month though I loved the game of cat and mouse Bill did on Martin and Smitty to keep the storyline alive and active after it had a nice build beginning of May and vanished for a week mid-May. And it appears like it's about to go back to the backburner as an A plot which of course leaves the A plot of Dani/Bill/Hayley.   I am probably in the minority as someone who is not anti-Dani here and even she annoyed the heck out of me last week. In character true, but I just felt like there was a way to get all of that across without it feeling like...as I've said before...one step forward, two steps back...and have it feel organic. I liked Hayley got a little bit of edge with her, but she still ain't no match for Dani. And it reminds to be seen if we should be going back to that well of a story yet.   Now about today's show...   And I thought Tracy was bad! lol. But YES. Sharon has been worth the wait. And so has Anita's story! Finally having TT in the limelight. This has been a nice slow burn for me and a nice B plot. And the actress is good. The wig is giving. And her holding what Anita's secret is over her head and threatening to tell Vernon....Ooooo...that is what I was waiting for.    And speaking of bad...I thought Eva vs Kat was a great rivalry. But I am loving the rivalry that is growing with 'Nancy Drew' and Silk Press Sheila! They both get good licks in and are so cunning with each other. And I definitely have liked that since the anniversary party, that it has been growing. Now that Kat has been proven right, she has not backed down. And neither has SilkPress. And we got a 'Ms. B@tch' moment, too? LOVE. Eva coming up with a trump card was delicious and so 90s Sami Brady. GOOD. And the coda with Jacob and the expert...YES. The Silk Press storyline has been the best paced on the show so I love that the aftermath of the anniversary party continues to be so...barring one flaw...well for me. Not enough Nicole's POV.   And I like the C plots on display. And by that, I mean Chelsea with Vernon. And it made me wonder what the writers have plan for her love life now that the throuple is over with. I was watching her and going awww.   And of course the mystery man around Martin. I am starting to wonder if he really even works at the country club given how he made a run for it. That would be a twist.    Speaking of Martin...good to see him in scenes with his father and mother.    I'm getting used to NuTed.    I felt the last episode of May was a bit of a letdown, but this was a very nice recovery.
    • Unless they cut him, I'd think he would stay. Surely, he didn't choose to return because he expected high quality. I figure he gets to work when he wants and spend a lot of time doing his own thing and being with his family.
    • The writing for Liz and Lucky is indeed terrible, but if JJ signed a one-year contract he may be gone in a couple of months anyway. Perhaps they’re just cutting their losses.
    • That would be his older sister Stacey. She was the center of a big story back in the day. Nola was out to snag medical student Kelly Nelson, who she thought would provide her with the life she craved. He was in love with a girl named Morgan. Nola plotted to get pregnant by him, but couldn't manage to get him in bed. So she seduced Floyd, who thought she was in love with him. When she knew she was pregnant, she got Kelly drunk and made sure he woke up next to her in bed. Kelly believed her when she told him he made her pregnant. They were about to elope to Las Vegas, but her mother ratted her out and Kelly abandoned her. She almost married Floyd, but jilted him at the altar. She went to work for Quint. When the baby came prematurely, Kelly saved both of them. She named the baby Kelly Louise to irk Morgan, who was now married to Kelly. When she fell in love with Quint, she had a change of heart over all the trouble she had caused, so she changed the baby's name to Anastasia Louise, shortened to Stacey. Quint was a devoted stepfather and Henry treated her like his own granddaughter.  After Quint and Nola leave SF, I believe Stacey is never seen again. Which is odd, you would think they would have brought her back with Nola and J, but they never did.

    • The counts seem small even for B&B. Thanks for posting!
    • Sooo Nick is inviting Sharon to France for this Dumas party thing. The same place they reconnected years ago during the Shick/Phick years. I wonder if it’s going to be on location? I’m going to assume not. I’m sure Y&R doesn’t have that kind of budget anymore.
