Less than a year after she joined the cast of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, insiders whisper to Soaps In Depth that Maura West has been let go as Diane. Although West won multiple Emmys for her turn on AS THE WORLD TURNS as Carly, the talented actress just couldn't get the same lightening to strike twice with her Y&R role, as viewers and industry insiders alike found the fan favorite miscast in the role of Victor's ex (and current!) wife. There's no word yet on how West -- or Diane -- will exit the canvas. Y&R had no comment.

From what I read, Genie is only signed for 6 months with an option to renew for like 3 years

There are several talented actresses on Y&R already.

Maura will be just one more.

Her talent will keep her afloat for awhile (6 months to a year) after that it's up to Maria to give her worthy material & given the state of Maria's previous casting/recasting stunts things don't bode well for Maura beyond the initial hype period.

Y&R has to make room for the ex AMC peeps!

The same could be said of Eden but she is still damn there.

I don't even watch Y&R but I adore MW from her ATWT days. I'm sad about reading this, but I got the impression from other Y&R viewers that her interpretation of Diane wasn't that good. I'd be curious to see where MW lands next.
