Members JaneAusten
Id love to know why NBC or Sony was ever interested. I know Andy Cohen is working over at NBC now and he loves soaps. I wonder what kind of influence he has. Maybe Days should use him as a consultant of sorts and start experiementing
Members marceline
Thanks. That's what I was afraid of. That wasn't a report that there was interest. It was reporting that there was speculation and rumors of interest. That's the equivalent of "My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night." Members Carolyn1980
True, but Nellie was the first person who specifically mentioned NBC and OLTL, and she generally doesn't report things as rumors unless there is some truth behind them. That said, I think she's right. The economics would never work, especially since Frons likely would make an impossible deal for NBC to obtain the rights to OLTL. Members Eric83
Go OLTL! Love seeing them so far ahead GH and AMC.
Members beachbum
Stop with the OLTL beating GH crap. In 35 years, OLTL has beaten GH a handfull of times. You all seem to wish GH's death, I don't. I want to save my show and Guza's firing is a great start
Members Carolyn1980
GH is a goner. It doesn't really matter whether OLTL is beating it or not. The demographics for GH just don't justify keeping it on the air. For your sake, I hope the new writer makes GH a show actually worth saving.....but if he doesn't, I won't lament its demise. Members Scotty
I agree, you can't justify cancelling AMC and OLTL, but not GH when their ratings are all virtually in a deadheat give or take one or two percentage points. Sadly, at this point it doesn't really matter much if one show gets a 0.9 versus a 1.0 in a key demographic.
Members trish672
After 10+ years of mob storytelling I call it sweet validation. I can't help but wonder where GH would be right now if Maurice Benard never darkened its doors. IMO this show lost its way once the Quartermaines were decimated. It really didn't deserve to go on after that. So seeing it cancelled would not bother me one whit. I wouldn't be surprised if it brought a little smile to my face. And when the media does its postmordem bit I want it emphasized how Guza and company were given free reign to take the very heart of GH and drive a stake through it. Members Scotty
Same here, and I don't even watch the show.
Members chyti
Exactly and all shows will be gone soon anyway, the only reason why GH was extended and not saved probably was because there is nothing ready to replace it. I don't see Frons, Disney or anyone else looking at these numbers and regretting a thing, they are all horrible. None of these numbers are going to drive up ad prices and that really is the bottom line if they can't make more money off of these shows. What I don't understand is the constant mentioning of OLTL coming in under budget that does not mean that the show is making money only that it is not spending as much as the others. Members aMLCproduction
WOW at B&B. B&B is really tanking in HH's and demos. I wonder what Bell is going to do. He should step aside...
Members DaytimeFan
B&B is likely done once it's current contract is up. I just can't see it surviving with the demos it has unless CBS can get a great license fee from the Bells. Y&R isn't doing so hot either. It's at 3.3, it's ratings have dropped so swiftly, it's shocking. Glad DAYS had a bit of a rebound, I find it the most watchable in daytime. Members marceline
When the media does it's postmortem, they'll talk about Luke and Laura until they're blue in the face and Genie will probably get to do a few interviews. That's it. There will be no examination and no blame. It'll be a nostaligia spankfest, nothing more. The time for accountability has long passed and if the soap media didn't do it then, don't expect the mainstream media to do it now.
Members mamasita
let's face it: GH,BB and Days are walking zombies. Y&R in cardiac arrest on a hospital bed.
Members Bella1974
The ratings are dependent on how many people were watching television at the time that that soap was shown, and not just how many people were watching this one particular show. It looks like there were more people watching television on Friday than on Wednesday, so even though more people watched this show on Friday, the show's percentage of the market wasn't as high as it was on Wednesday when fewer people were watching any television show that aired in this time period.
