This is what week 4 or 5 for them?

Looking at DAYS numbers they weren't that great before Winter 2010/2011 either. Not this bad but not very good either.

B&B did see sharp increases on Thursday when the plane crash started and then the continuation on Friday. This story may bring them back, but they have a long way to go. I still contend the loss of ATWT as leadout has hurt B&B because of the people tend to watch in blocks. Even if less than a quarter of ATWT turns audience either watched or tuned in early that's enough to make a difference. I know it's been rare that I've gone back to B&B when I've been home because ATWT is gone. I figured I might as well put it on my DVR again to see if this latest Brooke fiasco is worthy of some entertainment.

*sigh* OLTL still has the potential to gain ratings unlike AMC who has shown that they cannot for the past year.

LOL I'm upset because OLTL still has potential while AMC as been dead for a long time. OLTL has proven they're able to go up in the ratings.

I'll Happily disagree! :D You need not look much further back than a year to see AMC's potential audience.

In some instances AMC was topping OLTL by almost 500,000 total viewers.

IMO AMC has shown with proper writing, / directing & focus on the correct characters, it can lead the ABC pack. Problem is, it has not had these things in just over a year.

Oh well ... I love them both, they're the only two soaps I've ever watched.... and it seems barring a mini miracle, it looks like come January, my soap watching & ratings tracking days are over. :(

Toups Giddens! :P

OLTL's numbers were really lousy last year at this time (HH & Viewers), that's part of the reason they have big year to year gains even on weeks where they dont have numbers as fabulous as this week. Seasons change, although AMC's 18-49 remains weak whatever the year.

Happy to see the big HH jump for AMC. Over 500,000 in 18-49 is good after facing those 2 weeks of 400,000+! But, see this is what I mean, even when they have much more viewers than usual their 18-49 tends to remain surprisingly low. The first 2 months of 2010 they were getting 2.8 million viewers but still barely getting out of the bottom half in 18-49

I'm going to credit all the press coverage rather than Easter break for AMC/OLTL's gains. I was looking at the numbers for the past few years - on Easter week - a few days ago and there were both falls and much smaller gains.

Taking a look at the LONG view for OLTL.

Since the first of this year, OLTL has gained 255,000 viewers.

Looking at the monthly averages over the last 3 years, OLTL is UP in viewership compared to 2009. However, it's down some in the key 18-49 demos:

Apr 2009 2,446,917 748,600

Apr 2010 2,326,818 662,800

Apr 2011 2,614,938 686,667 (thru 4/22)

OLTL 2011 is up in viewers over the same week in April 2008 but showing significant demo erosion:

6. OLTL 2,661,000 (+319,000/-620,000)

4. OLTL 930,000 (+89,000/-125,000)

If Madison Ave weren't so mad for 18-49 demos, OLTL could have a much longer shelf life.

GH's long view has it DOWN in viewership over April 2010 averages in both viewers and demo.

Apr 2010 2,666,200 878,600

Apr 2011 2,563,000 761,333 (through 4/22)

GH is WAY down in viewers and demos over the same week in April 2008:

3. GH 3,028,000 (+208,000/-576,000)

2. GH 1,089,000 (+87,000/-136,000)

jams, and even when AMC was beating OLTL in HH/Viewers most of last year, OLTL was still beating them in the 18-49 demographic the majority of the time. In this Madison Ave. day and age, that's a problem for AMC. Also, D/G/R were leading the show in Jan/Feb and they would continue to lead the show for at least 6 months more while ratings went back down.

I'm looking at OLTL's Total Viewers for March 1, 2010 - January 3, 2011. They only got over 2.4 million viewers in 13 out of those 45 weeks. Why were they doing so bad in 2010? I guess some years it just shakes out that way.

Oltl is highest abc rated soap and its underbudget and been virtually ignored. Cancelling oltl was the biggest blunder, the show is hot right now, its almost never freaking two in the ratings lmfao. Right now this is the best news, all we can do is watch and keep these ratings sky high by doing this we have a reason for nbc to pick up one life to live. With rogers return ratings should get higher, let it keep coming.

In Toups voice.....

No spoilers please!

I can't imagine that any soap viewer who posts a board like this doesn't already know about it.

The LONG trend line for OLTL is 5 months of solid viewer performance. However, for March 2011 OLTL really staggered in the demo averages, hitting all time lows.

Thanks for the ratings Toups.

I was hoping Days would hit a 1.6 but I guess six straight weeks of tying their low and being last in HH's and Total Viewers is good enough.

Here's hoping for a 1.6 next week!
