I'm assuming Walker would be up for the supporting actor category in 1992-93, with competition including Thom Christopher as Mortimer on OLTL and the winner, Gerald Anthony as Marco on GH.

We have one of the last pieces of the great 1991 end credits puzzle.

The credits from what appears to be the Thursday, Sept. 5 episode are on YouTube. I'm going off the teasers for that day's GH and the next day's Good Morning America. Craig Carlson is still credited as headwriter, and Linda Gottlieb isn't credited yet.

Luna's first scene is also on YouTube, and thanks to the Life Goes On teaser, we can place the OLTL episode as airing on Friday, Sept. 13. Linda Gottlieb now has a credit, and so does Michael Malone.

I don't remember liking Nicholas Walker as Matt Kingston/Max Holden.  I've always been loyal to James DePaiva, who knew how to make Max rakish but never to the point of making him smarmy.

Similarly, what I loved about Andrea Evans' Tina was that she never was an out-and-out villainess.  She LOOKED vixenish with the tight dresses and big hair, but she really was a nice, if needy, young woman who made foolish choices.  (Like I've said in the past: yes, she could lie with the best of them, but she never lied to be malicious.  She really believed in her heart that she was doing the best thing for everyone concerned).  Karen Witter and Krista Tesreau's Tinas, on the other hand, just came across to me as total bimbos and not really worth my interest.

Krista's Tina wasn't a bimbo...she was very passive and more of a reactor...which was so unlike Tina.

Karen's Tina had some elements of Andrea's Tina...but she played a more subdued version of Tina.  

AE's Tina seemed to be different depending on the era.

1978 to 1981...her Tina was sweet, yet had a playfulness.  This Tina let her emotions/lust over rule her.

1985 to 1990:  Her Tina start out more low key, but strong willed before morphing into the more OTT Tina we remember from 1986 to 1989.  From fall 1989 till she leaves in 1990, Tina becomes more layered and tries to change..before she leaves town to sort out her feelings.

2008: Is a ditz and easily controlled...though she has great chemistry with Cain.  Wish she and David Vickers interacted more to see if they had chemistry.

2011: She is determined, OTT, and vulnerable.  Plus, she had good rival chemistry with Blair....and not only did she change for the better...so did Cord.

Credits start at 10:00. They could also be from the Wednesday, Sept. 4 episode, it's just that the GH summaries make it sound like the Sept. 5 episode was being teased.

This one I'm absolutely certain is from Friday, Sept. 13, followed by Monday, Sept. 16. Credits start at 2:00.

 

@Franko Thanks for sharing those old clips. Another of those wondrous soap moments where a character (Cord) who never had a hint of musical talent before or since kills it.

That would confirm Malone's own comments.

I do think they were putting pieces together before then though, as Megan is already talking about being in poor health in late August at Andy and Hunter's wedding.

I'm a musicals fan, so I greatly enjoyed it, not to mention the moment in the 9/4/91 episode where Babs was dishing on the Tyne Daly production of Gypsy. And what a fine bit of kismet (sorry, couldn't resist), since the Audra McDonald production's in previews right now.

Oh, definitely. It's been fun observing the transition.

I've said it before, but I have a wishlist of late 1991 things I'm curious to see: Andrew and Blair's arrivals, the domestic violence storyline, JDP's return as Max, and the start of Dorian & Jason.

I know Erika Slezak didn't like her tenure, but I wish Linda Gottlieb has lasted longer because I thought her OLTL was great for the most part. She never got the acclaim she deserved; the soap critics were always sniping about something on the show. I remember some complained the music was too loud or the telenovela pacing for some stories. I wonder what those same critics would say now after seeing what happened to OLTL and soaps afterwards.

For anyone left alive who cares: I stumbled upon a scene in some perusing last night from summer '87 on OLTL where Ed Hall, having recently returned to town, has a chat with Asa and Viki about his coming back from Arizona and makes it clear he and Carla tried reuniting again but couldn't work it out. He seems eager to find something to do career-wise. I don't know if that's the last real mention of Carla's status on the show as I don't know how or when Ed left again, or what he even ended up doing after this. Input welcome!

She loved JFP's run (which I can understand, given the major frontburner material she was given) and has made it clear she disliked Gottlieb personally and professionally. She's more than entitled to that take and while it's clear Gottlieb was not always a people-pleaser, in terms of the show's quality I simply disagree.

Something I didn't know: the original "Tour of Llanview" almost included a shot of ... Three Mile Island! Wayne Fitzgerald, who filmed the opening credits in and around Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in the summer of 1984, told AP that "ABC producers" nixed the idea.

I just found 244 videos spanning from 1977-1985.... Downloaded EVERY video just in case its deleted by ABC

I agree with all of this. I obviously don't know what Gottlieb was like bts, but her material on screen was extremely strong. Most of her material I still have great fondness for while I thought JFP harmed the show (the women became spineless idiots; the show was so dark and morbid and JFP's treatment of some of the cast  members was reprehensible). Interesting how fans and actors can have completely different interpretations of the material.
