Fiona hasn't aged a day. Andrea and Ilene are discussing Roscoe Born and Phil Carey.

LOL I didn't know Ilene would go join the Buchanan men on their infamous 'acting coach' drinking lunches when she was first on the show (as Georgina Whitman in the '80s). Fiona loved working with PC but said working with him after lunch was "flying solo".

Tonja Walker: "[Guest star] Elaine Stritch scared the living bejesus out of me." I had no idea Ann Reinking came on during the Mortimer Bern story!

Wow, Ilene is talking Sylvia Miles. I remember her brief stint as Roxy's gorgon mother.

That was the first full interview I watched for Locher and after a rough beginning it was enjoyable. Tina and Gabrielle are my ultimate faves so I was most excited for them. I wish they had focused more on story points and less on Tonja's social media/politics talk.

I had no idea that the random scene of Tina being admired by the natives of the falls actually consisted of...natives of the falls. I dont know if they actually dressed like that or what but I was shocked and that was a cool behind the scenes story.

Yes -- the reunion went off the rails a bit here and Locher knew it...

Locher should really stop asking what "everyone's been up to during quarantine."  It's just a waste of time, leads nowhere and prevents the actors from talking about their roles / storylines.

The AMC reunions on EW.com have avoided these types of questions, sticking to JUST the show...and they have been much better and tighter because of it.

I did love the Paul R stories, plus how soap filming has changed from the early days...and all the fun stories from Fiona and Andrea during the Argentina remote.

I wish Tonja was asked about how her character went from a competent FBI agent,to loon, to mob queen, to Mrs Buchanan, etc...and how she handled playing those various changes (michael fairman did an interview with Kimberlin about Sheila Carter..and it was detailed and interesting to me).

It probably helps that, besides Vincent's, they've been edited.  But I agree.  Even the Ladies of Loving reunion, which had a *bit* of that at the start, was much tighter and show-centric.

Wow!  Lots of work put into that.  Funny enough, I just found a SOD which voted OLTL as worst show of 1989.

1989 is one of my favorite years I have watched outside of "my era" and it just seems so fun with Eterna, the baby switch, the crown jewels, Tina and Cord wrestling convicts in an arena, the baby switch, Megan/Ruby, etc. I only found the B stories and cast boring but I guess the show was gettinf absurd.

Can you share what SOD called them out on?

The part about the production values is what stands out most, as that criticism would follow Rauch around for years. I do agree with them about the stalling, but in clip form it's easier to tolerate because of the performers. I'm not sure how fans felt while watching live.

Didn't Rauch remodel Llanfair multiple times? Did he just take things to far?

I guess a lot of 1989 was filler but I still enjoyed it for what it was. We know RC was a big fan of the 80s and has the same problem today on DAYS (and when he was at OLTL) of basically filler and then climax.

    • Also, the lawsuit story was not the right story to bring Naomi and Bill into a court battle since those types of lawsuits are usually resolved via settlements.
    • I know that Sara did eventually become Carrie's therapist, but I was curious if the show had her make comments regarding Carrie's stunts of making it seem as though Justin was cheating on Jackie.  Given that Justin cheated on Sara with both Jackie and Brandy, I wondered if it was wise of her to counsel Carrie given the conflict of interest involved. @DRW50I think once Adam/Sara end up married.. Marland didn't see any reason to explore Sara's personal life after the actor playing Adam was released.  I know that Sara lasts until at least Christmas 1982 on the show.. but I don't think she ended up staying on for very long into 1983. The period between Marland quitting and Pam Long starting was the perfect time to clean house on characters that had outgrown their usefulness  (i.e. Ben, Evie, Sara, Jennifer, Morgan).. and tying up stories started by Marland that were too complex (Mona Enright, Mark/Jennifer/Amanda triangle).
    • Unpopular opinion:  The focus on the soap opera tropes over the mysteries and crimes was partly what did the show in.  Also, featuring characters not involved in the legal, police, and criminal elements also hurt the show and took away what made it unique. Featuring characters like Jody, Raven, Sky, etc hurt the show long term.  The show ABCified starting in 1976/1977 and then went through a youthification period starting in 1981.
    • I feel like the lawsuit storyline was resolved quickly because the show didn’t want to spring for more sets.
    • It's been a while, but we have seen the foyer to Bill and Hayley's house as well as the exterior entrance to their house. The foyer was first seen in the premiere episode when Hayley met Vanessa at the house.
    • There's still a year or two before Larkin arrives. Joel is there already. EON does noticeably youthify, although I think they carry it off. Admittedly I haven't seen most of the Jody stories, which from what people here have said aren't great.
    • I don't mind the actor who plays Brian. He's fine. The problem for me is that Paige seems so wishy wishy. She doesn't seem to have much of a personality at this point so I don't see why Brian would be so besotted with her. She just lurches from one trauma to the next. Granted, it's only been a month, but she's not as vibrant as April or even Deborah who has had minimal screen time by this point.  I do worry about the influence of GH on the show since I'm in fall of 1979 and characters have conversations and there's not the drive to "youthify" the show. However, I think Marceau (sp?) is gone. He was given a rather tame sendoff. How long was the actor on the show? I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I worry the show is setting up a murder mystery around one of my favorite characters and I will be mightily annoyed. I also noticed in recent Search for Tomorrow episodes uploaded to YT that the actors playing Logan and Eliot showed up. I don't watch the show but they were in the screencaps. When does Larkin Malloy show up or has he already left? Joel Crothers hasn't shown up either unless I've blinked and missed him.
    • Dr Linden. She treated Vanessa's drug addiction (although Vanessa seemed to forget that by Henry's suicide attempt) , and she's mentioned during Reva's PPD. Although I can't recall if she's actually shown right off the top of my head. She probably was temporarily shelved when Sonni was a therapist (between her crazy times) And I think Billy sees her after he falls off the wagon after Reva's death.
