Sounds like a good idea. Not sure if you want to go back, but the channel I posted a while ago that had a ton of clips of AMC from 87-88 still seems to be on Youtube.

Isn't is curious how certain soap material remains uploaded on Youtube for years, while other clips and episodes disappear almost instantly?

I think some networks and owners care a lot more about copyright than others do, even if they allow their programming to remain unseen in mothballs for years.😡

Dude, literally anyone who’s spent a day involved with classic soap discussion within the last 25 years knows that ABC didn’t start preserving AMC and OLTL on a regular basis until some time during 1977-1979. No one’s hunting down sources to support something literally everyone here (except for you) knows and has known since the Clinton administration.

👏🙃😘

It is. I am a bit nervous about how much longer that will be up but I'm glad it still is. Some videos leave in a day and others are still up 15 years later, especially if they are P&G (who, for better or worse, just don't care).

It would be interesting if they responded to complaints about their set-up and exorbitant prices, but I doubt their response would be substantive or satisfying; just PR bull$hit.

Let us know!

I will 😊

Ah! Thank you for letting me know. I'll check it out. 😍 There were lots of gaps when I was watching that period so anything missing that has resurfaced will be great. I'm glad that going forward from 1989 to 1990 and ahead... There are a lot less missing episodes.

Fortunately for me, P&G produced many of my favorite soaps, so any classic material of theirs available on Youtube is a blessing. And knowing that DAYS and Y&R (and DS, TD and R'sH) have most of their archives intact is a miracle.

I have also heard all the things that @vetsoapfanstated earlier.

Thanks. I think for folks who are well-versed in soap history, all the reports about what material has survived and what has not is known.

I was a huge AMC fan from the Summer of 1984 (right when Jenny blew up on the jet ski) until about the Fall of 1996.  I still watched but the show started to drag and I don't think trading Felicia Behr for Francesca James did the show any favors.  I gave up on the show in the Spring of 1997 when I could not stand one single storyline: Erica kidnapping Maria's baby, Tanner breaking up Hayley and Mateo and the god awful Pierce, Brooke, Christina storyline.  Thank goodness I came back in 1999 and got a few more good years out of it!

But 1997 is the year AMC won the Emmy for Best Drama!  :)

I actually really liked it, but I could see how some thought it was dark. I was a teenager, so maybe this makes more sense, but I was so intrigued/invested in the Tanner/Hayley/Mateo storyline... gosh, when he kidnapped her during the airplane flight and we watched Mateo rescue her!  They got married right after that in the hospital, it was so sweet. Being a big Hayley/Mateo fan, that was thrilling and I loved watching Mateo play hero.

Talking about waiting... I think that pretty soon after reaching the end of 1992 OLTL... I may just take a few months break from it and get back to my AMC 1989-1990 journey. Or I may continue both with 1 episode each a day. I still remember vividly where I am. I stopped just before Agnes comes back as head writer. I want to continue. I want to see what will happen to Dixie... and if Erica will find her father is alive. I am just so hooked (as you know) on OLTL right now. It's like a drug. 😁

I love to hear this :)  I know you're so into OLTL right now, but I can't wait until you get back to AMC. I think the idea of watching 1 episode of each, each time, is great!  You are going to love the Dixie/Tad storyline, I think.

Awesome news about AMC. I hope somebody with the expandable coins supports this so that it could lead to bigger and better things ahead. 😘

I think I'll follow your advice and go with an episode of each... So very soon I'm going back to Pine Valley. I have to prepare mentally for Adam Chandler. And that creepy disturbing mansion where he spends his existence. 😍😅

Allegedly, DAYS has always been wiped, too, and doesn't keep its vintage eps, either.

I mean, we know this simply isn't true. Due to the nature of it being a Corday / Sony co-production they actually did keep them. Cady McClain of all people casually dropped that the entire shows run exists except "season 2" as it was destroyed in a fire.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if there's a lot of shows that are currently digitizing their archives (hence why Cady would randomly have information on the DOOL archive), but the older the format is the longer time and effort it takes to getting them digital, and that's not taking any upscaling / remastering into account. I assume that the reason why BEYONTV started with 90s episodes of AMC is that those were faster to get to digital and to acceptable quality to put up on streaming. I'd assume episodes from the late 70s/early 80s exists for all soaps at the very least, but it's just more work to transfer those and they might not be great in terms of visual / audio quality.
