Such a lovely wedding for Mark and Ellen - understated, but their chemistry and the history between them makes it special. This does feel like the end of their journey as characters.

Any time I watch episodes from this period, Nina's story always feels so isolated, even though she still had a lot of family on the canvas. They did try to include her in the prison story but I don't really know if it worked.

I love the way they use Erica in this episode - she is being Erica (pushing all her baggage with Natalie onto Silver without realizing just how fragile Silver is) but also has those sweet moments where she is genuinely happy for Mark. This is such a rare moment of getting to see Erica in family drama. I wish we'd gotten more of it. And that we'd gotten more of her with Silver.

I also love the contrast between Natalie and Wilma - you see everything that made Natalie who she was, and what she was trying not to be. Wilma's fight with Erica was a hoot (and so Agnes Nixon - it reminds me of Opal's coarser moments). Sad what happened to the woman who played Wilma.

I wish two things: to see more of Mark and Ellen's early courtship (here I go again begging for more late 70s AMC) and that Mark had been brought back more later in the show's run. It's great that we got him that few times we did, but each time just showed how much Erica having family that wasn't her children or grandchildren truly grounded her. Once Myrtle died, no one on the canvas knew her and her entire story, who she was before she became "La Kane." It was perfect that Mark was there for her intervention in 2004.

I'm currently making my way through that long compilation of 1985 stuff, but I'm looking forward to getting to the late 80s. I really am not familiar with most of the stories from that era besides those that were still being referenced 20 years after the fact (mainly Brooke/Adam/Dixie).

Soapcentral had posted some pictures the other day from an AMC/OLTL reunion. They had posted a picture of the AMC children that were born during the 2000s, and they got big. Time flies by fast.

Pic of Madison, (Stephanie Gatschet) and the kids that played AJ Chandler, Spike, Miranda and Emma. I definitely recognize Spike. I think that AJ Chandler  was the last kid they had playing Adam Chandler III before they did the online revival.  Also, I think that Miranda is the toddler Miranda they had for a while, and I believe that is the second Emma.

I'm not sure. I didn't see one on their Twitter page or on their website. They just had the pictures of the AMC/OLTL casts on the twitter page. I agree it is a random collection of people, lol. But I am glad to see some of the cast members again, including the kids.

I should have known by the eyes. He does look good. He was growing into a handsome young man when he was fired (which I still think was stupid) and he's aged well.

Who is the other woman? That isn't Jill Larson I assume.

    • yes. today Monday's episode started with words displayed "part 1" and ended with "to be continued"
    • I find Missy Reeve's views offensive and I don't want to defend her, but I don't think she ever said anything publicly about Days "gay content".   In fact, I don't think she's ever said anything negative about Days at all.  There's no indication Missy is difficult or unprofessional on set-except for the whole affair thing years ago lol-but that's a whole different topic. I can dislike Missy as a person and still think she's the perfect fit for Jen.  Cady tried and it didn't work for me.  Whenever Missy steps into the role it works.  It's a two things can be true situation.  Missy has some bad opinions, but she's great at playing Jennifer.
    • Doesn't the funeral go into Tuesday
    • Christian Streaty wrote her second freelance script today on Days. Surprised they gave the first funeral episode to a newbie.
    • And the third thing, which I have no cite for, and I may look to see if one is findable, but supposedly she said that the show had too much gay content in it. And, to be fair, that could be someone making a criticism about balance & not be bigotry but when it's added to the other, that's why it bugs people. Edit to add: The reason this may be impossible to source, and therefore of no use, is because it was not a public statement. She is supposed to have said it at the show, about the show, to colleague/s, one of whom repeated it in public, but that is convoluted to try to track down, so feel free to ignore. I did do some looking & I am not optimistic.

The greatest tv series season finale in history.
    • Mick Savage was sooo unbearable. And more unbearable was the reaction from the female characters to him - they were acting like he is God's gift to women and sooo irresistible. To a point of unbelievable cringe.
    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?
    • This is the coldest early June in my life. It's like it's January.
