Yeah, given some of the stuff we know, that this has been in the works over a year, Anne wanting GH gone too. It was May 2010 we learned SoapNet was ending, think someone at Disney, be it Anne or people above her ordered the Soap Division to be shut down & develop replacements for the shows. That's what it looks like to me. ABCnews got hit with massive cuts too not to long ago. I remember a leak from a few years ago saying Disney was considering selling ABC. I'm betting the news and soap divisions are the ones that are least profitable & those are the parts of ABC getting hit the most.

Ryan was so fresh-looking and good then...I can't believe the number McTavish did on that character, and she created him.

I'm not holding my breath in regards to Agnes keeping the shows alive, but I'd love it if she could. I just don't want it to end up like ATWT, where they sat around waiting for the next big thing and wasting valuable time that could have been used properly ending the show (not like they would have done that anyway, but eh whatever).

Yeah, I get that she's happy for her pals. God knows why, none of these shows are going to last a particularly long time. And she herself looks so tired and bored and depressed on 30 Minute Meals nowadays.

I'm not holding my breath either. I think in the form that we see the two soaps now, they are done but it would be great if she could spin off some characters into a book or just occasional stories on her website. I wish she would update that thing!

Well, DAYS and B&B had lower ratings last week in the W18-34 and W18-49 Demos than OLTL did. And their networks don't own them, like ABC owns its shows. So this doesn't bode well for them.

It's amazing that ABC was considering canceling all three at once. Basically, just saying: "We don't do soaps anymore. That part of our line-up is being completely reworked."

I can't imagine DAYS lasting longer than September 2013. GH probably won't last more than two years beyond OLTL's departure date--in other words, no later than January 2014. And B&B seems likely to go when its contract runs out, which I just read is November 2013. So we could have 3 cancellations within 4 months of each other when the next batch of soaps go off the air.

Y&R is tricky. It has the best ratings, largely IMO, because it follows The Price is Right in most markets. Move it from 12:30 and its ratings will collapse. But it could be the one soap to survive for a bit down the line.

So Trent Garrett who plays Asher Pike on AMC tweeted this:

Trent_Garrett: A little sad news personally. Money is very tight at #AMC so some actors may not make it to the end. I'll be fine if I am one of them, if it means bringing some of your favorites back and making the last days special.

Oops. Perhaps I wasn't allowed to say that (regarding my time left). But ironic enough, this is not the week to play nice with my bosses.

I saw a site like the Freemantle one before where they had Capitol for sale. Beating my analog-to-digital conversion horse, but there's room on This/Antenna/RTV for those Loving/The City/AMC reruns at 1pm. Something to consider...
