AMC and OLTL Canceled!

It would be cool, but no matter what one thinks about AMC's current state to OLTL's--AMC still has far more characters Agnes has written for in the past than OLTL (I mean even Dorian under the first actress only came on just as Agnes was training and working with Gordon Russell to take over from her in 1973, otherwise you have... Vicki), I'm not sure she'd feel anything but lost at sea at OLTL, though I could still see and love her writing the final episode, or even scene with Vicki of course.

All I know is that the last scene of the final episode of OLTL had better have Viki in it saying something some line about having only One Life to Live or there being no place like Llanview.

God, I hope this is true. Any time someone says Agnes is involved behind the scenes at AMC, I think back to when they lied to us and told us that she was going to write Phoebe's funeral.

I don't remember that--who did end up writing it?

I'm spot on with you there.

I felt that way when PC ended. THat was the onyl soap I watched from beginnign to end and it effected me when it was first announced but life goes on. They've all been on borrowed time for quite some time.

I admit that while I was never a big watcher, GL's cancelation was expected by me, but ATWT was the wake up call. As much as I truly loved Loving/The City, I think because it had always been last place, the ending didn't shock me, even with them not even giving City two years.

What's sad for fans of OLTL is when he says the decision to cancel both shows only came within the past week (he says they had already decided to ditch one show weeks ago)...no doubt at that meeting with Anne Sweeney. Since OLTL is the one getting the extra four months on the air, it was clearly the one that was going to be spared until at least September 2012 if they had gone ahead and only canceled one of the shows.

See again--and it's SOO pointless to argue now I know, I don't think int his case that is entirely true. I bet OLTL is going longer while they prepare the new show because, more than demos or anything at this point, it makes sense to keep the show that's in the timeslot beside GH for a while and replace the first one.

Why can't we get all the people together in the world that we really like and then just stay together? I guess that wouldn't work. Someone would leave. Someone always leaves. Then we would have to say good-bye. I hate good-byes. ~Charles M. Schulz

Or...

she says that and the show goes FTB but just when it we expect the credits to start rolling it fades back to light and it is Victor saying "don't be so sure!" and then a diabolical laugh and then the show fades to black.

*thumbs up to ME for that quote*

He's one of those actors that I really respect. But, never seem to give enough credit to.

I don't even remember...it definitely wasn't Agnes, though, but I remember reading at least once that she was going to do it.

See, this right here is the type of thing that makes me really sad. To see someone who is usually "hard" and "cold" have a brief pouring out of emotion. I'm not even a big ME fan, but that's the type of thing that chokes me up.

ABC has been a piece of [!@#$%^&*] and on a downhill slide to HELL since Disney took over in 1996. That was the year that TGIF died. They took the last 2 shows over to CBS. (Step By Step and Family Matters) and the soaps were toned down. The mob took over GH even more than before. OLTL was watered down. And AMC was kinda looked over. Their prime time died first. Now their daytime. Capital Cities is weeping and rolling over in it's little corporate grave!

I honestly don't know which network is worst. NBC for screwing over Conan, CBS for canning ATWT and GL, or ABC for this. Network TV should just bloody DIE ALREADY!

ABC did have a brief resurgence with water cooler shows like DH and Lost but this has died now. But I do think that, while I know this sounds like hyperbole, with all three networks losing their soaps and a real sense of daytime identity it is the mark of the slow death of network tv in general. It does help witht heir brand, and more and more networks have zero brand--in sharp contrast to the increasing popularity of cable stations which largely do still have strong name recognition. Few of my younger friends could tell you WHAT network a show they may watch like Modern Family even airs on, but they all could tell you Dexter is on Showtime, True Blood on HBO, Spartacus on Starz even...

You'll look fierce in that.

I'm thinking DeeeDee should don Erica's Vegas showgirl look.
