Not to mention the fact Liz is a fekking NURSE and should know better at the VERY LEAST professionally.

It does make it worse that Liz is a nurse. She could just go to the gynecologist down the hallway and get birth control.

Yes, let's talk about STD's for a second. Given the amount of unprotected sex happening on soaps there is a ridiculously low amount of disease even though half these people don't even shower afterward before hopping into bed with the next person. I'm sure we can all think of characters who should be dealing with some serious consequences. In the real world, Ryan Lavery would've given every woman in Pine Valley a case of HPV, Blair Cramer would have someone on retainer to treat her recurrent cases of chlamydia and Todd Manning, the serial rapist who has done numerous stints in prison...well just PICK your disease. Instead these woefully irresponsible people are considered "vixens" and "heroes."

You would think that these people would be living at the clinic at the rate that their rarely used birth control fails. A STD running rampant on one of these soaps would be the first socially relevant story that I would care about in ages. The only person not to contract a STD should the woman who insisted on a condom. Billy Abbott is the one I would use.

I would love to see the onliner reaction to that kind of story. I think the general audience would embrace it. The online fangurls not so sure. But if it

drew viewers it would prove the nonsense about who's with who etc is just that nonsense.

Off topic has anyone heard how the protests are going today?

I think that's actually getting us back on topic. Hee!

I thought the protests weren't supposed to start until 2:00.

Oh ok you are probably right

And off topic again, I watched that promo for The Chew and actually was half interested but then I like Clinton Kelly a lot and Carla Hall.

It doesn't mean I will watch it regularly or at all but I can say the promo got me interested.

I think a big problem has been the direction they've taken. If you look at tv in the past several years, one of the biggest trneds has been shows about housewives. Started by Desperate Housewives, alot of reality shows came about centered around them. The Real Housewives are HUGE and have numerous series and seasons and there's also newer shows like Basketball Wives, Mob Wives, Football Wives and more on the horizon and these all do well. These shows feature women as leads and focus on their family lives, careers, friendships and feuds with the males in their lives being secondary. Why the heck hasnt any of the soaps tried to emulate their success? Its baffling how soaps have become more misognystic and male oriented with women taking backseat supporting their male counterparts. These reality shows are cheaper to produce and more closer to what the soaps used to be like. Women dont want to see women getting beaten, portrayed as stupid and degraded for the sake of propping up a man who most likelty isnt worth the effort. Its puzzling how soaps have moved more and more towards that and not the career driven, family oriented and emotionally charged drama of the women you see on the reality shows. Can you imagine of GH was written like Mob Wives and Real Housewives of NJ? Probably would be alot more interesting

I have little intention of watching either of these shows. I find myself curious about the DVR ratings. The only way I've ever been able to watch soaps is by making an effort to do so, either by recording or streaming or when I was on a break from the show on the whole, still watching clips on YouTube if something sounded interesting. Except for whatever Chew segments they tape here in town, I'm not going to make that effort with the replacements because I'm just not that interested. I love a food show as much as the next person but there's already a million of them to choose from.

OH I am not saying I am interested enough to watch either. I don't see myself DVR'ing it or setting aside time to watch it. I just thought the promo

was well done and I do like 2 of the hosts. And I don't honestly know how well these lifestyle/food programs do on DVR overall. Maybe they do well I just can't see it.

But reality shows are evil, beneath soaps, the worse thing that's ever happened to television, the worst thing that's ever happened to American society, can never be compared to five-day-a-week scripted drama, doesn't have the dignity of soap opera, won't be watched and talked about for 50 years, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah....

I totally agree with you, Cheap. When I think of all the storylines I'd love to see on a soap, a lot of them can be found on a reality show, and it's just as entertaining as it would be on a soap.

Same here. I cant get enough of the "housewives" shows. They are giving me what the current soaps used to but are not anymore. If TIIC werent so insistent on pushing agendas, they'd look to what's working and what the latest trend is and thats women as leads. This misognystic bullcrap is part of the reasons why soaps hve declined

Picture from the soap ralley(there are some others too)

Fun to see Ilene Kristen and Colleen Zenk Pinter in the photos (Colleen is nicely shellacked like she's make-up ready on set at ATWT).

Those picket sign posters look like 5-year-olds made them. C'mon ladies! Bold colors! Solid letters! Consistent lines! Sheesh...

NeNe Leakes has provided me with more entertainment as the resident $hit-starting superdiva bitch than any daytime vixen in recent memory!
