April 23, 201114 yr Member I have such mixed feelings about the scenes with people waving goodbye - some are very moving, but then you have that Louann woman with the shoulder puppet who makes me think Liza had a severe head injury at some point. The last scene with Jo and Stu is gold though...
April 23, 201114 yr Member Even for DYNASTY cliffhangers, that one was pretty bad. Of course, James Harmon Brown & Barbara Esensten probably wrote it, so....
April 23, 201114 yr Member This is cute but I felt like it was a little sad as a legacy for Loving, which had so many good moments.
April 23, 201114 yr Member That's probably true, although I feel there still was a "criminal element," if you will, to much of the drama. Nevertheless, I look at EON as almost our answer to UK soaps like "EastEnders" or "Coronation Street": it centered mostly around an urban locale w/ characters from all walks of life; it had a premise that could adapt with the changing times; and had it not been for the inability of a certain network to get more affiliate clearances at the 4 pm hour, it might still be on the air today, even as other soaps are fading. No doubt, I posted this clip but I guess it got buried in the video section and with no description nobody took a look. It is low budget EON goodness I ripped off of aolvideo because I loved the way they worked the theme music in as the background score, and the cool flashbacks shot in Brooklyn Heights that tell the secret. EON was the most intelligent soap ever. Actual clues, scenes mattered and would be forgotten and referenced weeks and months later, and everything always had to make sense.
April 23, 201114 yr Member I hated Loving's last scene, especially how it went out of its way to pimp The City. If I didn't know who Debbi and Darnel were and just saw this as the conclusion of a soap, I would hate them forever. Then again, not many gave a rats ass about Loving, and boy did that show... April 23, 201114 yr Member Even for DYNASTY cliffhangers, that one was pretty bad. Of course, James Harmon Brown & Barbara Esensten probably wrote it, so.... And it was the series finale episode. Any wonder no one watched it....lol. At least Dallas ended high in the ratings for the last show. Knots last scene was brilliant. It had that telenovela feeling to it.
April 23, 201114 yr Member Seems only fair, I think... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVbz02-NRrg&feature=related
April 23, 201114 yr Member Didn't somebody sing Danny Boy recently on OLTL? It made me think of RH. Both Natalie and John each sang a little of it to Liam yesterday.
April 23, 201114 yr Member Unlike Dallas or Dynasty, I think Knots isn't too 80's, and the premise could be revived successfully today with the right people running the show.
April 23, 201114 yr Member The Falcon Crest final scene is beautiful. It helped that Jane Wyman wrote the whole speech herself.
April 23, 201114 yr Member The NBC finale of Passions was great. Cliff hanger after cliff hanger after cliff hanger...it was such a fun episode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-xUNdmyGkY
April 23, 201114 yr Member It's fitting that the last Knots scene ended with the last shot of Karen/Michele Lee, as she appeared in every single episode of the show.
April 23, 201114 yr Member I loved Passions' final scene as a standalone scene. I had absolutely no horses in the Theresa/Ethan/Gwen race, so it didn't bother me that Ethan and Theresa ended up together. I just love all the confetti and balloons, Juliet Mills' portrait of JRE, Auld Lang Syne, the appropriately cheesy "Folla ya passion" line, etc. I LOVE that one line in the Falcon Crest speech. "People come and go...but the land endures." It's such a perfect statement in every way. Edited April 23, 201114 yr by All My Shadows

Jacob: "Ready to get the hell up outta here?" Angie: "Word. [To audience:] Hey, y'all, we kickin' triflin' lil' Corinth to the curb and movin'. on. up! Check us out on THE CITY, weekdays on ABC!" Jacob: "Deuces!"
