There's no reason why Agnes and Lorraine, two very capable writers, can't fashion a good short-term story that starts off Bianca and Marissa as a couple. I'm not saying they need to be together under one roof with the kids making Hamburger Helper for dinner with Melissa Etheridge rockin' out on the under-cabinet kitchen radio. But start this thing off. All they need is one late night -- and they don't even need to be drunk -- where they learn more about each other on a deeper level. That night ends with a kiss, but instead of the angst that usually goes with that type of story, they're both okay with it. And they spend more time with each other as the weeks go on, and by the end, they decide to become a couple. Now I tend to write stories in my head in ways that would never happen on screen, but I want to believe that they'll do something with these two characters. I don't have to tell you what the only big, heavy thing about the podcast was. But all of the "I can't believe they're cancelling OLTL at the same time as AMC!!" annoys the sh!t out of me. Get outta here. You thought they were going to save OLTL over AMC? And now people are all "But why on earth would AMC get another chance!??!" They thought I was playin' when I told them AMC's name is bigger, its profile is higher, its place on the alphabetical list of lists is closer to "A" than OLTL's is. They thought I was trippin'. They're quick fixes for quick money and, even less so than The Talk and (ha!) LEt's Make a Deal redux, they seem to be created with absolutely zero thought of any longevity. Members DRW50 Posted April 20, 2011 Members Share Posted April 20, 2011 I doubt it would have made a difference with cancellation, but I think more honest criticism of OLTL might have helped the show from bleeding so many viewers in 2009 and 2010 - I remember when the hellish KAD saga, which trashed one of OLTL's best and most acclaimed stories, was going on, DC said the only bad thing on the show was Stacey. Members marceline Posted April 20, 2011 Members Share Posted April 20, 2011 Instead of just supporting the show they love, Nelson, Jamey and others chose to trash AMC because they thought that anything good that happened to AMC came at OLTL's expense. They contacted the Hershey Co., requesting the company stop advertising on ABC to support their cause. Right after Cheryl King heard her favorite shows would be canceled last week, she found other fans on Facebook. They've joined together with plans to boycott, picket, call and e-mail ABC and its advertisers in hopes of getting the shows reinstated. King lives in Fairview Twp., where she started watching "One Life to Live" with her mother 30 years ago. Wednesday fans targeted the Hershey Co., calling, e-mailing and writing on its Facebook page, asking the Derry Twp. company to stop advertising on ABC. The Hershey Co. would not discuss or acknowledge any contact. "I don't have any information to share on consumer contacts today," said spokesman Kirk Saville. "I can tell you we take consumer response seriously." He wouldn't say whether the company would evaluate their advertising outlets. "Hershey will continue to advertise that most effectively reach our target consumers," he said. But fans believe Hershey will side with them. "We are moms and grandmoms and the people making the Easter basket," said Deanna Paige Uranga. "We are the people that buy Hershey. So they need to show us that they value us." Uranga lives in Los Angeles and she set up Rally for AMC and OLTL on Facebook 15 minutes after she heard about ABC canceling her favorite shows. Members trish672 Posted April 20, 2011 Members Share Posted April 20, 2011 I fell out of watching AMC right around the time the Janet/Natalie imposter story was heating up (had to go back to school) so it's been awhile since I tuned into the show, but even I was completely turned off over the dismissive coverage of the AMC rumors. I agree, Just cause they're taking your calls don't mean they are "this close" to pulling a Hoover. Saying stuff like that just gets people's hopes dashed when it doesn't come true.
