March 23, 201114 yr Member She also claims that if she'd been given six months, she'd have had the show on fire. Literally. ;-P
March 23, 201114 yr Member When it comes to viewer loyalty, a soap can fall into one of two categories. Either it's a show that loses a fan (or fans) and loses him for good; or, it's a show that might cause him to tune out for awhile, but always has the chance to bring him back if given the proper incentive (meaning, good writing). Shows such as AW, ATWT, GL and SEARCH all fell into the former category, b/c in the eyes of most longtime viewers (yours truly included), no amount of sensational(-ized) stories would ever make up for the handful of costly and foolish decisions that jeopardized their futures in the first place; and to those who might otherwise be inclined to start watching if they hadn't before, what they were sampling, for whatever reason, just wasn't appealing to them. AMC, though, is like DAYS and GH (and to a certain extent, Y&R). Its condition might not be the greatest at the moment, but it can always make a turn for the better, b/c enough are still plugged into it and willing to come back to it. Again, though, it all depends on the writing. Very true.
March 23, 201114 yr Member You want the show canceled so badly, yet you still watch. It's confusing to me. LOL I have a feeling a few people here and elsewhere would be singing a totally different tune if a certain someone was coming back. I barely watch, I switch it on to see if there's anything good, and I only enjoy Tad & Cara & Scott & Madison these days. No actually I wouldn't so please don't speak for me, I don't even want AM on this crapfest, especially in the lackluster storyline she's stuck in

But it's a theme I see, and yes I do think people's tunes would change if that someone was to say he was coming back.
March 24, 201114 yr Member AMC's Goldin on Rumors: "Not True" Hot on the heels of an all-cast meeting held by AMC's Executive Producer Julie Carruthers, Digest spoke to Ricky Paull Goldin (Jake, AMC) about the future of Pine Valley. The actor offers a much more positive view than what's been circulating on the Internet. "We have been told by the powers-that-be we're not going anywhere, that the rumors are not true and we would have been the first to know," Goldin reports. "These are all vicious rumors. To see false rumors affect or impact a legacy television program like this would be a sin." But that's not to say that the cast wasn't concerned. "It was a bit of a downer that we've all been fielding questions and texts and e-mails from people who love us, our family and friends," he notes. "My mom called and asked me if the show was going off the air. That doesn't set you up for a good day at work. That was so yesterday. And everybody is fine today." Nevertheless, the actor urges the fans to show their support for the 41-year-old sudser. "Now is the time to let their voices be heard," he says. "And they can do that by calling this phone number: 818-460-7477, press 1, then 2, then 3, then 255 for ALL MY CHILDREN and tell the powers-that-be that they support and love the show and that if the show doesn't go anywhere, they're not going anywhere." I just called this number and left a message! I can't believe they only give you 30 seconds! I was ready to read them a book. LOL.
March 24, 201114 yr Member Once upon a time, RPG said pretty much the same about GUIDING LIGHT (although, I can't recall where, or in which magazine). Didn't stop him from fleeing that sinking ship, though. I'm just saying.

If it was such false/vicious rumors then why all the call and save the show comments...? Edited March 24, 201114 yr by Soapsuds
March 24, 201114 yr Member Because, these actors hope that when you do call, you'll not just say, "Don't take AMC off the air!," but also "Don't get rid of [enter name here] either, because I love him and I want him to be my babydaddy woooo!".
March 24, 201114 yr Member Is some one out to get ABC daytime and its fans?. First the Guza rumors and now AMC's pending demise? Seems real funny.
March 24, 201114 yr Member So I guess next week's rumor will be "ROGER HOWARTH BACK AT OLTL!". Again.
March 24, 201114 yr Member If it was such false/vicious rumors then why all the call and save the show comments...? Because ostensibly there's still a chance to make a difference. This isn't like the pathetic fan campaigns that happen AFTER the hammer comes down. Once the announcement drops, it's too late.
