This Y&R stuff is really interesting. I watched for awhile, I think the last time I did regularly was before Cassie died. I haven't really followed it since, but when the ratings were posted I always just took foregranted that Y&R would be number one. It's odd to see it falling so hard, and so fast.

I'm sure a big segment of SoapNet viewers are those who previously watched, taped or DVR on ABC but they like

the SoapNet timeslot better so they watch their soap on SoapNet and if they still want to watch AMC OLTL or GH

you can be certain they will once again watch, tape or DVR on ABC Daytime once SoapNet goes off the air.

Which is why I think its a mistake to simply look at the ABC Daytime ratings as the only ratings ABC is looking

at in consideration for a soap cancelation.

Yep. I still think Disney will sell ABC at some point. After they've raped their sports department for ESPN, of course.

I'd love to see Wal-Mart buy ABC. It'd be unexpected, trashy, and completely inappropriate. And you guys thought Disney was conservative? LOL.

That's a good point.

I'ma take flack for this but, I always thought, much like J&E...Zendall were a couple with a loud fanbase, but never really had the popularity it was believed to have. I've never seen proof they (or J&E) have done a thing to help or hurt ratings. And yes, I know not one couple or character can help or hurt ratings, but for two couples who have always been touted by their respective fans as the key to AMC's success, I think there ought to be something that shows that. I don't believe for half a second ratings would change if TK came back tomorrow, or do I think they'll change if AMC keeps Jack and Erica together.

They probably should just dump most of the vets. Soaps have always been aimed at younger viewers, not old folks trying to recapture their long past glory days. GL and ATWT from 1975-1985 purged everything but the core and this may be why each show lasted so long. Marland took GH young and got ratings up.

There is nothing more pathetic than watching a character like Jill get pathetic over Colin and it brings to mind the cliche of their being no fool like an old fool. Same goes for Echo and Charlie over at OLTL--sad!

I'm just over seeing late baby boomers in heat.

    • Agree. The catfights at the clothing store alone...lol.   That's how I feel about Teresa as well. Cheryl I feel seems to blend much better with Sara's breakdowns, but I definitely love her dialogue no matter who she is with.  They also forget replies about missing plot points and theories about why they might be missing so...   YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS   Oh how that scene lives rent free in my head and when it pops up online I will always watch.
    • Episode #62 Thurs May 29 US, Dani arrived at the bar at closing time and used her Dupree name to request that the bartender serve her even though it was past closing time.  Then Doug walked in and Dani convinced the bartender to serve him too.  They were both drowning their sorrows, and the scene switched to Vanessa/Joey having sex on the card table. Then no followup.  Did Dani and Doug talk? Or... ? Where did Doug go? When the next episode started, it was the next day and Dani was meeting with Pamela, and Pamela arranged for some hot guy to date Dani, but Dani wasn't interested.
    • So I'm seeing cuz the catch-up has been brutal. All I can do (besides look at fashion) is smh.
    • Wow. What an episode. Deidre truly broke my heart today. Not much else to say. Just an incredible love story ending.    I’m amazed they couldn’t or didn’t try go get either Claire actress while both of her grandfathers are on death’s door. Hope sensing John had passed was a nice heartbreaking touch. The rest of the week is going to be so hard.
    • -- The fashions are at least something to talk about, because we're definitely not getting any story. I mean, this stuff is dreadful. -- I do like how they're dressing Nikki. Its hugely different from before, but I'll take it. -- At least she doesn't look like Ashley, who's dressed like a clinically-depressed Cruella DeVille. -- Nick without a jacket just looks odd. -- I see Mark Grossman again gained about 15 lbs. when he was away on vacation. The sharp cheekbones are gone and the double chin is back. Hate to be mean, but I hope he loses the weight. -- All that talk about all Claire did to plan that "party." Excuse me? There's nothing go on, and outside of some tacky Happy Birthday signage and tablecloths from Kohls, I don't know what they're talking about.

2025 year-to-date: 64 episodes monthly leaders: as of May 2025 (appearing episodes/total episodes, per month) directors + writers: pre-emptions: seven total pre-emptions + one National delay A very special thanks to @alexisfan07 for the double and triple checking of stats! A huge help that is much appreciated.
    • You're right, but that also sums up why the show is so unwatchable these days. Any character could go on a Postal-style rampage and it would generate a shrug.
    • I'd be surprised if it was. Money is money. And yeah, Kathy's done all those things but tbh given the current tally for ruinous character choices in EE in recent years I'm kind of numb to it and find hers small potatoes by comparison.
