Soap actors/kids grow up on screen

I thought Erin was very good and was able to sell sexual scenes with DF and Jason-Shane Scott by the end of her tenure. I also thought she came off infinitely more mature and intelligent than BW's Jessica ever has. I'd welcome her back today.

On the one hand, I want to blame the writing for that. Yet, OTOH, if it's actually true that these writers write according to an actor's strengths....

In addition to Erin looking distractingly young past the age of 14, she played Jessica in this very odd half-snotty/half-Pollyanna-ish way that wasn't at all favorable.

So you mean she was playing the character as written? And acting just like Viki? Sounds like she did a great job!

That's exactly what I was thinking by that description...She grew up a spoiled rich Buchanan/Lord...

...and I totally disagree. In addition to Erin looking distractingly young past the age of 14, she played Jessica in this very odd half-snotty/half-Pollyanna-ish way that wasn't at all favorable. She was like a stuck up princess in a Disney fable, and I never bought her getting all those guys fist fighting over her. I was thrilled when I heard she was leaving and that Jessica would be recast, it was needed, and immediately took to Bree from her very first scene in the train station – even when she kicked the vending machine, and wound up stuck in Antonio Vega hell. There was no way Jessica would have continued to work as an adult with Erin in the role. Like Kristen Alderson, she too lasted five years longer than she should have.

IA. Bree was such a welcomed addition when she joined and I instantly found her more bearable than Torpey. Unfortunately the character's storylines have gone downhill since she joined which has been a big negative in how people view her

IMO one of the reasons the stories have gone downhill is because of lack of connection with the original material. I thought Bree was fake as hell as the early Jessica she played, totally unable to form a simple bond with anyone in her family or any scene partners, and I still feel that way when I see some of those episodes again. While I'm sure Frons' weird issues about women played into what happened to Jessica, I think Bree was also more comfortable playing the "fun" Tess and that has continued on since, even at the expense of the character and the family.
