March 21, 201114 yr Member I wasn't much of a fan of Jason/Robin either. I think that Sam mainly exists to prop Jason which is why I have never been all that sure if she is this big powerhouse at GH. If it were up to me, I would have Jason, after Jake dies, and Sonny dies (this is not a spoiler, just what I think would provide a lot of story), get into a motorcycle accident and go back to being Jason Quartermaine. Reindeer sweaters nooo!!!! But it doesn't have to be that way at all. Jason Quartermaine would be traumatized by so much that has gone on in the last 15 years. He'd be very bitter and angry, and scared. I would bring Keesha back briefly to wrap up their story (since he was so in love with Keesha when he had the accident) and to have scenes with Maya, and then if Maya leaves, perhaps have Keesha and her daughter or son move to Port Charles. Then I would have Robin care for Jason and begin to fall in love with him again, and for Jason to fall for her. I would either try Patrick with Carly or Sam, or write him out. It would also provide some scraps of story for the other Quartermaines. What if Edward starts going on about Jason running ELQ? What if Tracy feels unwanted and starts making moves to get more of the company under her control?
March 21, 201114 yr Member ^Steve has pretty clear he will quit if Jason Morgan becomes Jason Q again, raindeer sweaters or not. It would be a fantastic story, and i think was the plan when they brought Robin back but obviously, it did not happen.
March 21, 201114 yr Member I wonder if someone actually pointed out that there no longer is any Jason Quartermaine that he hated so much - the circumstances of today's Quartermaine family make that impossible. There is no AJ, no Alan, and Monica is now too broken to have any real impact on his life. If they point that out then perhaps he might change his mind. There is far more material in Jason Quartermaine than in more of Jason Morgan, dead weight who relies on the same old sad-eyes routine in failed attempts to hide how ossified he has become.
March 21, 201114 yr Member I think the "refusing to play Jason Q" is a non-starter at this point. What little growth Jason Morgan has had has been with the Quartermaines, not the mobbies. Neither polarized character has potential, it's only in the middle that they haven't played yet and that might be where they are going now. Sam seems to bridge that somehow, and that's the best option from what I can see.
March 21, 201114 yr Member the perfect time for Jason Q to have returned was back in 2005, I think it was when Jason had a brain problem and lost his memory. He should have regained his Q memories when his Morgan ones were restored. They missed the boat on that. I will agree that they don't write emotionally mature women, but at the same time would emotionally mature women get themselves into soapy situations? As you've pointed out, Laura was already grown by the time Lesley had a child, so it didn't matter. Tracy started knitting when Dillon was on the way - I ask you, is that Tracy Quartermaine? Anna and Robin had to do with R&H and Anna's guilt - she didn't raise Robin, Philomena did. And it's not just the women. When Jax started obsessing about wanting to be a father, the Candy Man left town and was replaced by someone far less dashing and attractive. Lucky's birth happened off screen, but Lulu's nearly killed Luke. Michael's birth turned AJ and Tony into completely different creatures. Even Robert was a great occasional father to Robin but he didn't have to raise her, really. Maxie damaged Frisco. Mac hasn't been the same since Maxie/Georgie. Kids change the equation. There's no getting around that, and interesting characters become less interesting if they have to remember their parenting status. Sonny - even while I can't stand him - is only a "good father" because he doesn't actually do it except in the occasional moments. It's all been on Carly and Alexis' head. wile you bring up some good points, IDA on Tony. He had children for most of is run and he remained a viable character. Those were children he actually raised too. I wouldnt count Michael against him as that wasnt his kid and he didnt raise him at all. Even if you dont think kids are a good thing for soaps, dont you think they are a necesary evil? You cant have a show where everyone is sterile. And I dont think the answer is to retcon long lost adult children into the equation Edited March 21, 201114 yr by Cheap21
March 21, 201114 yr Member Oh, children are totally a 'necessary evil' in this medium - in real life too We just can't kid ourselves that it brings together a complete, perfect picture and NEVER can we assume domestic bliss is good for a character. There are certain characters that exude maternal/paternal and I'll give you Tony on that one, I'll even give you Laura, Alexis, Ned, Patrick and Liz. But it ends a lot of their potential in other areas. Then there are others later in life who turn out to be amazing parents. Who knew Tracy had it in her? As for Jason in 2005…. he's not the only one. They miss the boat on a lot of things.
March 21, 201114 yr Member I wonder if it depends on the show. For instance, I never thought Viki on OLTL or Margo on ATWT were that hampered by their kids.
March 21, 201114 yr Member Thekid argument is interesting..What about Bobbie? Her struggle for children was so much a part of the show for years. Were we not genuinely happy when she got BJ and Lucas? The kids didn't change her much. They, in all reality, completed the character and evolved Bobbie.

If he did refuse to play the story, I'd just recast. Burton is pretty forgettable and since Jason would get in an accident, it could simply be added in that he has to have a facial reconstruction. Cliché, yes. Necessary, yes. Edited March 21, 201114 yr by Amello

Arguably, but after she had them - which didn't happen until her late 30's/early 40's - that's all she was about. Even her affairs and marriages had to do with the kids OR they were basically never heard from again. We didn't see her parenting Lucas often and BJ was gone quite soon after Bobbie got her. Aside from her relationship with Jerry, Bobbie really didn't have a story post BJ's Heart. (Ed. and by Jerry I mean the real Jerry Jax, not the impostor of the last number of years.) March 21, 201114 yr Member Is Kelly such a pet anymore? She hasn't gotten the airtime she used to get for awhile now
March 21, 201114 yr Member If he refused to play Jason Quartermaine, or a hybrid Jason, I'd fire him. Sorry.
March 21, 201114 yr Member If he refused to play Jason Quartermaine, or a hybrid Jason, I'd fire him. Sorry. I totally agree. I don't care how long he's been with the show at this point, since he hasn't actually acted in years.
March 21, 201114 yr Member Is Sam always this...annoying and unemotional? She had no reaction to Jake's death at all. I don't regularly watch. Oh and there's Carly picking for Jake's body parts. Dear god, no wonder I only turn in for big storylines! HAHA Edited March 21, 201114 yr by alexisfan07
