I'm digging the Griffin-Cara relationship. The brother-sister thing may seem a bit forced, but the actors are selling it. I like the dynamics between Jake-Amanda-Cara-Griffin. I think this has real potential, and I'm interested to see where the writers take all of this. However, injecting Tad into this story...no, just no. I guess that with his only prospects--Liza & Krystal--going in other romantic directions, there's not much else for him to do. BTW, will someone please tell Cameron Mathison to dial it down a couple of notches. The head bobbing, the flailing arms...I needed a dramamine just to watch him. I like Cam, but heavy drama is not his strong suit. And Ryan and Greenlee just seem so irrelevant.

Griffin is just so not Kendall's type...they seem out of each other's leagues, Kendall kind of seems like she's towering over him in a sense and he's looking up at her. With all that said I do agree they are so cute together, I enjoy them together and I do think they have chemistry, but...long term I just don't see them clicking that much. I can't see Kendall staying happy w/him for long and if she does then it will be REALLY forced and manufactured. It's so obvious AMC has plans for these two but I think the show should really explore other options for Kendall.

I enjoy Griffin & Cara together immensely, their scenes at the Slater house were really nice.

Wow great work by CBL as Bianca...it's hard to get into this Reese/Bianca stuff as it's all happening with quick phone conversations, but no doubt is CBL putting her all into it what she has to work with...

Oh, how I wish we'd gotten to see Ross deal with his teenage sons. I loved his relationships with Phillip and Sam, but he really deserved to be seen with his own kids (other than the horror that became Dinah). The boys simply disappeared off canvas after either the Nursery Stalker or the affair with Tori.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread

What I liked about Bloss is that I liked how they grew to be the stable couple- the closest to an Ed and Mo in their prime. Especially after the Tori story when their extra-marital exploits were in the past. I wanted them to SORAS the three kids, along with Dinah and with Phillip's family as Ross's extended family would really be solid core family material.
With that said, I was rooting against Bloss in 1999 as I really liked the Ross/India pairing-- but that just turned out to be a waste of MKA.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's

The return of sitcoms' popularity in the mid-'80s was a real thing, but the crash of the wealth-based nighttime soap genre was resonate and self-induced.

There was an effectively grim finality to the mood of the cliffhangers in the Spring of 1985: Bobby's death, the Moldavian massacre, the return of Val's babies... and they felt as if they could have ended right there (and perhaps they should have, although I would have sorely missed S10 of Dallas, S6 of FC, and Season 9 of Dynasty , and the next five years of KNOTS as they singularly maintained quality).

But, wow, these shows just fell apart post-Spring 1985. They stopped being character dramas after a while, and just started trying to "impress" viewers in some superficial way and to "fake it" somehow.

What a painful, unnecessary slide it was. But once these shows seemed to lose their identities, their sense of self, their momentum into the dung heap couldn't be slowed.

It is very strange. They have insisted on having 30+ contract players for years now. If they had less cast, they could up everyone's episode guarantees, balance the cast out more. Like 20-25 would be perfect. Have everyone else recur.
If you look back at the history of the show, especially in the 1970s and in the 2010s, whenever the show was at it's most successful, it had smaller casts. Audience relate to the characters more, because they see more of them. In 2009 and 2013, the show had arguable it's most successful periods since the early 2000s (ratings wise that is). They had smaller casts and focused on 3 or 4 stories the whole year. That's what they should be doing at this point. Have a few umbrella stories, that last the whole year, and involve the whole cast. But again, before that, fix who we see on screen cause.....😬
