January 28, 201115 yr Member Wow not great ratings at all. The way people went on, you'd think their ratings were through the roof, LOL. Heck didn't ATWT do better than that? I think they did. they did about that, but how much cheaper do you think the talk is to make? You have to factor in that it tapes less. not only less days a week, but less months a year. It has a smaller cast and a smaller crew. One set. Etc..
January 28, 201115 yr Member LMAO! That's exactly the answer I would've given except I would've followed it with, "Now if you'll excuse me, I need to finish getting Ms. Chen's car detailed." I didn't realize their ratings were worse than ATWT's. Jeez. They're even worse than what ATWT was doing the week before CBS announced the cancellation (thanks, SON Ratings Archive!!). This is a textbook example of a show being cheap enough to afford low ratings. Also a textbook example of "It's cheaper to keep her...help me say it yall, it's cheaper to keep herrrrr." But yeah, I never paid attention to The Talk's ratings, so this makes me happy. "Ratings roll." Get the f out of here with that s. Edited January 28, 201115 yr by All My Shadows

January 28, 201115 yr Member It's still here. ATWT and GL still aren't. Right, but it's funny that they're acting like the show's success is built on its ratings be so much better than ATWT's. Of course, no network is going to come out and say that a show is doing better than its predecessor simply because it's cheaper to make, but my icy, black, vindictive little heart rejoices to know that more people were tuning into the very worst of ATWT than they are into The Talk. January 28, 201115 yr Author Member Yeah but it's nothing to brag about, unless being mediocre is a good thing Now who's baiting? LOL but my icy, black, vindictive little heart rejoices to know that more people were tuning into the very worst of ATWT than they are into The Talk. +1 CBS makes lower ratings roll the right way for Julie Chen and 'The Talk' A TV show needs good ratings to survive, right? Well, not always. So hilarious and true and actually sad. If Julie Chen wasn't married to head of the network this show would be gone
January 28, 201115 yr Member So hilarious and true and actually sad. If Julie Chen wasn't married to head of the network this show would be gone That's doubtful. Love it or hate it, The Talk is cheaper to produce (Why do people keep ignoring that?) and it has been building its audience. This was a bad week, no doubt but the previous one was good. It is what it is.

This was a bad week, no doubt but the previous one was good. It is what it is. I think people ignore it because there's been focus on how the show is doing better than ATWT, at least in demos. I generally think from a PR standpoint a lot of the spin on The Talk hasn't been the greatest, although I do think it makes sense to talk about how the show is doing better than what was in the slot before it. It makes more sense to me than the whole "Look how much better we're doing than OLTL" spin. But when they start to go down to ATWT levels, or lower, that means more scrutiny. I really do wonder if CBS would have been better off putting The Talk in the LMAD timeslot and focusing on heavy repair work for ATWT. I think that ATWT could have found some footing again if someone had cared, and that also would have helped The Talk, having a solid lead-in. It was only 3-4 years ago that ATWT still had a good-sized audience. Meanwhile B&B just keeps bleeding and is a very empty show which seems to have few possibilities of improving.

Hahaha..so agree with you....burn baby burn...hope The Talk goes down in flames. The ratings are the s hit and worse than ATWT....hahahahahahahahaha

January 29, 201115 yr Member I know the shitty show was renewed..... Oh don't be so harsh, Soapsuds. The Talk is cheap (ooh.................oh nevermind) to produce so ratings and all that don't matter. Edited January 29, 201115 yr by MontyB
