March 31, 201213 yr Member That's quite a find!! I wonder if they thought she looked too much like Jaime Lyn Bauer. From what I understand JLB wasn't cast at that point. Her character was created but not intended to appear until later on (eventually making it on air in Dec 1973) Does anyone know if JLB was cast well before she appeared? I also find it interesting that Trish Stewart is missing from this, as Chris was such a main focus of story initially.

Well this was in a March 24 1973 edition newspaper, so obviously the press wasn't changed before the show debuted. I do remember seeing a pic of Lee Crawford in her scene with William Gray Espy that showed her in a slip instead of the nightgown type thing she wears in the first episode. Not sure if it was a rehearsal or they taped a pilot and weren't happy with it and re-taped. Does anyone know the pic I am talking about?
April 1, 201213 yr Member CarlD2 posted an article about the beginning of Y&R earlier in this thread, and it has a small excerpt that talks about Janice Lynde replacing Mary Grover. It says she had to work until midnight and on a Sunday. Since Leslie only had a brief scene in the first episode I am guessing Mary must have taped a fair bit before being replaced. April 1, 201213 yr Member There was an almost scuffle between Lester's Jack and Victor. Victor had just watched Nikki's goodbye video when she was dying and Jack came over to tell Victor to keep away from Ashley or something. Victor got pretty angry and they almost went for it. I have to admit Lester seemed intimidated, as many actors do when in those scenes with Braeden. Just remember too, it was Lester's Jack that lost Jabot to Victor, so not sure he would have won many battles even if he stayed. Plus Lester was coasting in his last year, seemed very bored or restless and unhappy. I honestly didn't see a big shift with Jack initially, until after the Nikki marriage, and even that may have softened Lester's Jack, though I think the loveable bastard Lester did so well would have stayed. Bergman didn't seem to have as much fun, even when he was having fun. I don't know that the stories would have been that much different, maybe just played out slightly different. I think I would have liked the Luan/Keemo story with Lester more for some reason. I have just never been able to shake the weasel from Bergman, Lester was just more loveable and fun. Every time I call Lester's Jack a rat and some other colourful words, I always do it with a smile on my face. I see Vanessa, Casey and Nikki, is the other one April? Nice find. Yes.... the other one is April.

April 3, 201213 yr Author Member Very good chem between Terry Lester and Barbara Crampton here. Crampton seems so confident in this role, which she lacked in some of her later soap work. I wish they hadn't made Jessica so cutesy.
