It does seem like a nice idea - perhaps not suited to the characters involved, who were already saccharine. There seemed to be a lot of hooting over the stuff with Cricket and Jessica singing "You and Me Against the World."

It certainly would have been a very different type of story for soaps, especially since I think Lauren might have had a very ugly reaction.

An excuse (she was no bigger than Adrianne Leon when Y&R fired her).

She was meant to be a new heroine but Y&R felt her weight didn't fit their style.

Very true, and I don't see Joanna getting the gracious, more sweet than bitter ending that Jessica had.

Patty was great on the show,as she said she believed in what the character was doing and that worked onscreen.

When MAB first came on,I think we saw Gina a couple of times.I think Patty had health problems.

I remember the Wesley Eure interview where he said his friendship with Patty was curtailed once she hooked up with Jerry Birn.Seems he was very conservative and didn't like Patty hanging out with the gays.

Thanks for posting the article with Patty Weaver! I really miss Gina on the show. It's funny how she was one of the only characters who everyone knew, when other characters didn't necessarily know each other that well. I take it that Lauren and Phyllis were the only two she never got along with huh... What years was Gina actually on contract with the show? I know she was recurring through most of her run.

I'm not sure if there is much truth to that interview with Wesley Eure. Patty seems like someone who wouldn't just cut people off just because her husband disapproved of their lifestyle.

Was there much of an uproar about her marriage to Jerry Birn, I know he was like 30 years older than her. I bet Laura Birn loved having her as a stepmom even if they were only 10 years apart or so.
